After 2 years as patients of Dr. Tates, my 3 girls had healthy teeth--no complaints there. But some member of his front staff are very unfriendly, and he himself was very rude in connection to an insurance question. There are so many good pediatric dentists in Austin, it is a waste of time to support this one!

Be prepared the front desk staff is very very rude and has a bad attitude. All the doctors and the staff in the back are great!! My kids have never been so comfortable with a dentist before. They explain everything and you leave with no questions. I am surprised that he still has the front desk staff still there. Beings the are so friendly and kind. I am not the only one who feels this way about the front desk. There where several parents in the waiting room. We all shared our bad experience with her. Other than her a great place.

Dr. Tate is an outstanding, caring doctor. His practice does their utmost to make children feel comfortable. The dental hygienist and assistants all have wonderful bedside manners. Even his waiting room shows his concern for patients. It is divided into 3 sections: 1 for watching TV, 1 for playing with toys, and 1 for reading and watching fish in a tank. There is never a long wait for your scheduled appointment. Dr. Tate is extremely well-rounded, and knows a lot about medicine outside of the field of dentistry. He continues to attend seminars and learn about the most advanced techniques and products, and really goes above and beyond the call of duty with his patients.

Dr. Tate is a wonderful pediatric dentist. His staff is great. His waiting room is divided into 3 areas - a movie room to watch TV, a toy room, and a sitting room with magazines and an aquarium. Dr. Tate keeps up on all the latest news in dentistry and is extrememly competent. He is very freindly with kids and he really knows what he is doing. His staff is great with kids.

My. Daughter loved Dr. Tate. unfortuantely our insurance isn't excepted at his practice so I've had to take elsewhere. The staff was very friendly, I was seen on time and Dr. Tate is very good with children. (Did I mention my daughter was 3 years old) We have been to two other dentist since this visit and neither me or my daughter have been happy with the service. Eria Harvey

I have 2 daughters going to Dr Tate. He is great with kids and all of the assistants are as well. He uses the least invasive procedure when possible. One daughter had a cavitiy sand blasted and the other had to have the shot. Both procedures went great. My children like going to the dentist!

We have not had a positive experience with Dr. Tate. My 4 yr-old son had his 1st dental visit with Dr. Tate about 6 months ago and Dr. Tate said everything looked good and we were doing a good job caring for my son's teeth. Now six months later, when we went in for a cleaing, the nurse informed us that Dr. Tate had noted in the previous visit that he was concerned that my son might have a cavity and sure enough this time my son has a cavity. Frankly I have concerns as to whether or not my son really has a cavity. If he does and if Dr. Tate had a concern he should have told us so that give that area special attention.

Our son Austin was terrified of dentists and Dr. Tate made his experience really positive! He had been treated very poorly at another pediatric Dentist and was told he would have to go to the hospital to get his filling done, because he was not able to remain calm and cooperate! Well, we left that Dentist very quickly and did some research...we found Dr. Tate and he truly knows what he is doing with children! Our son seemed as if he was a "new" kid in his presence...Dr. Tate has everything going for him and his main positive is that he is very professional and comes across very confident which helps the children trust him and work as a team with him! We are just amazed at the comfort our son felt in his presence and had that filling done with no problems...Dr. Tate did it w/out any sedation too! I highly recommend this dentist for anyone who has a child that needs a filling.
