I was a referral to Dr. O'Shea by my dentist, who thought Dr. O'Shea was knowledgeable in TMJ/ grinding problems. Dr. O'Shea made me wait 1 hour to see him, even though his waiting room was empty. When he came into the exam room, his staff told him that I had dental anxiety. He told me to "get over the anxiety," and then reclined the chair and was rough and invasive. I have never had a dentist lay on my face before - and will never allow it again. I was in too much shock to push him away. It was a humiliating and disgusting experience. He also told me that my dentist, who had referred me did "not know what he was doing as a dentist" and that dental bite guards my dentist made for me were "crap" & then ordered that I "not put that crap" into my mouth again. I had to argue with him to prevent him from throwing my bite guards into the trash in his office. It was a horrific experience all the way around.
About Front Desk: They were friendly and helpful. However, I could hear the dentist making abusive comments to his own staff - must be one heck of a place to work. In spite of that, the staff was nice, though obviously intimidated by their boss.

The worst dental experience of my life - the only dentist that I Ieft mid-treatment. He was supposed to do some crown and bridgework for me. I became more and more dissatisfied with the quality of his dental work and the quality of treatment during each visit.
Finally when I called him one day - while I had sharp pain in a tooth - he told me that he can't do anything for me and that I had to just cope with it. It turns out a simple antibiotic treatment took care of the problem.
This was such an obvious oversight that I decided that any other choice is better. I am very happy that I left Dr. Oshea.

I have been a patient with Dr. O'Shea for the past 2.5 years. When you first walk into his office you are greeted not only by an extremely courteous and helpful office staff, but also by one of the nicest dental offices that I have ever seen. He has a pot of coffee in the lobby for patients waiting to be seen. You feel right at home the minute you walk in the door. Dr. O'Shea is surely one of the most experienced Prosthodontists in the Virginia area. Every Christmas I receive a card from his office. His office staff always calls you to remind you about your appointments. He gives you a treatment plan so you know from the beginning about how much your case is going to cost along with his plan of action to treat your case. No surprises which is what I really liked.
I would highly recommend Dr. O'Shea because I feel he is truely the best Prosthodontist in the Virginia area. He has been awarded The Washingtonian Top Dentist award many years in a row.
I love him and his staff and truly appreciate all they have done for me!
