He was my first dentist and recommended by my pediatrician (his father, who was actually very nice and professional). David Lewis was trying to get my mother to take me to an orthodontist (when I didn't need any orthodontal work done) and when I had two cavities due to molars that hadn't erupted yet, at first I wanted both sides of my mouth done since it would be convenient. Well, I got scared and didn't want one side numbed, and then I realized it would hurt so I backed out and he got mad and yelled at me, then he yelled at my mother. I was crying. My mom actually thought I was acting up at first. Then David Lewis called later on apologizing and my jaw was hurting. I was scared to go back to get my other tooth filled. Luckily, we went to another dentist who helped me a lot with my anxiety and he's the reason why I am not completely afraid of the dentist. David Lewis traumatized me and from what I understand many other children. Learning about him serving time in prison and getting his license revoked for fraud and what I view as malpractice is very satisfying as he will never make another young patient cry.

I know this doctor: For maybe a year or two.

Be advised this dentist has had his license to practice dentistry revoked! I saw Dr Lewis to have my Invisiline braces installed. Paid him monthly for this service, but was referred to another dentist to complete the treatment - without expaination for this action! Again, he never completed the treatments but continues to withdraw payment!! I will lodge a formal complaint for this practice and demand my money back from his dishonest practices. DO NOT SEE DENTIST!

After the 4th time going in and him asking me if I had a teeth cleaning yet (I'd had them done 3 times by his hygienist) I started to question how well my teeth were getting cleaned or if I was going through the scraping of my teeth for nothing. I also had 2 fillings redone because he said they were loose, after 4 weeks of being in pain (after the filings- they did not hurt before this- I guess he was being proactive) I decided to have a 2nd opinion. My new dentist did a though exam with xrays, re did one filing and a root canal on the other.

About Hygienist: I'm not really sure about this. They seems to be clean until the dentist looked at them (after the cleaning) and asked how long it had been (ah, like 15 minutes???)

I would watch out ! Dr Lewis reminds me of a used car salemans. He makes his diagnosis on what he can do to improve the look of your teeth. Nevermind if at that time you don't have the money, he will have nothing to do with you. Burney handles the coverage part, after consultation Dr Lewis will have you wait in the examing room while he is consulting with Burney. Its decided then what they can do to get the most money. If you are not going with the treatment at that time you will get a quick fix that won't help out future treaments. Its all about submitting the claim to your insurance. Watch out when they do submit a claim, it may be over charged. I always want to know what my cost is before treatment and this is paid at the time of treatment. Only to have a bill come later from this office for hundreds of dollars. Some patients will just say charge my card, I gave my card information for a certain amount only to have a higher amount charged. This Dr is over his head with the finances, trying to get money where he can and hopfuly the patient isn't looking. Out of of who I met there, Kelly is they only one I didn't find. rude. Last time Dr Lewis pulled a tooth he made sure I was on antibotics for a week before, not this time.

Dr. Lewis' work is excellent. He takes pride in his work and continually attends classes to keep up to date on current advances in the dental arena. The dental assistants are wonderful and very caring. The only complaint I have is that I falsely assumed when they scheduled an appointment for me that they would be open. My last cleaning, I showed up but the office was closed(regular closure)! Due to work changes I cannot take time off during the work day now and must find someone else to clean my teeth.

About Hygienist: I absolutely love Joan. She is the best hygienist I have had ever. She is on time, efficient and just does a great job overall.

I cannot say anything positive about Dr. Lewis. I had been going to him for years and he was not only verbally abusive to his staff in front of me, but his patients. He also perfomed excessive dental work, and the work he did perform was incomplete or done poorly, thus requiring more costly work. Avoid this megalomaniac

A full review would be too long, so I'll try to give the annotated version. Dr. Lewis is horrible. I went to him because he allegedly deals with people with dental phobias(which I have). Nothing could be further from the truth. He gets irritated very easily with both patients and his own staff. They over-book their schedule so everyone is always rushing between patients. I was left in terrible pain after having 3 wisdom teeth extracted, with no meds. They just told me to take some Advil. Which I specifically told them I cannot take due to kidney and digestive problems. He also did a 2 root canals. One he put a crown on, the other he didn't. The one with the crown NEVER felt right, but when I mentioned it he blew me off. The pain in that area has increased since he did it, and now I'm positive I have an infection in that socket. And since I no longer live in Sacramento, I cannot have him fix it. I just wanted to have the tooth pulled since it was so bad(and root canals/crowns are expensive), but he insisted on "saving the tooth". Now I'm suffering. He never put a crown on the other tooth because I ran out of money. I had wanted it all done in one visit(I had the money then), but he refused. Dr. Lewis is just not a good dentist.

About Hygienist: The hygienist was good. No real complaints. Overall, the staff(besides Dr. Lewis) was very pleasant and courteous.
