Had two implants installed which continue to function as expected. I did have a problem with the crown which was attributed to the manufacturer. Dr. Dal Santo worked with me and we got the problem resolved in my favor. He stood by his work and took extra time and resolve to make sure I was satisfied with the outcome. This is a professional who takes pride in knowing you are satisfied with his work.

I know this doctor: 9 years

After months of pain and infection from a failed root canal which had led to a quick-and-dirty emergency extraction, I was referred by another oral surgeon to Dr. Dal Santo, who is both a medical doctor and an oral surgeon. What I liked best was the sense that he was fully willing to take on this difficult situation that had gone from bad to worse over the previous three months. He made me feel like we were a team; when he successfully located the offending 4 mm. fragment left from the extraction, he said, "Eureka!" (gold-miner speak for "I found it!"). Finally for me, someone who cared and who had the skill to resolve the extremely painful situation. A thorough professional who obviously loves what he does.

I had a very bad experience at Dr. Frank Dal Santo's office. I was in for an emergency, to have my wisdom tooth pulled and was in extreme pain. The receptionists claimed they could not find me listed "on their screens" as having Delta Dental Insurance. They claimed Delta Dental's phone line was busy so they could not verify. I asked if they wanted to verify my employment and offered my faculty ID at SFSU which they didn't accept. They repeatedly asked me to pay up front, even after they verified with my kids' dentists that I am insured, and had used the plan in January 2006. Still, I was told: "Even having paid in Jan. doesn't mean you're covered." After 30 minutes, other patients in the waiting room were already looking at me as if I was creating trouble because that is what the receptionists made it sound like. Finally, after a long 45 min. wait, I was told that "we will do the procedure but if tomorrow we verify that you don't have insurance, YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY." I said I was not that kind of person, that I had already signed all the forms taking financial responsability for the costs, and that my husband was a patient of Dr. Dal Santo, so why were they giving me such a hard time knowing that I was in extreme pain? I left.

I was so pleased with my implant experience at Dr. Dal Santo's office. He was patient and very caring. My procedure took about 2 years to complete and he was able to work with me during my pregnancy. The office staff were positive and supportive too.

Six months ago Dr. Dal Santo removed my wisdom teeth. Unfortunately I would definitely NOT recommend going here. First, it was very expensive, though to be honest this was of little concern to me-I was more interested in having a competent doctor than saving money. The office staff was friendly and helpful, the facilities clean and modern, and Dr. Dal Santo reassured me before the surgery, for which I was very grateful. So far, so good! The problem arose a week after my surgery, when I noticed my right cheek was extremely numb. At my check-in, I mentioned this to Dr. Dal Santo, but he told me to wait for it to finish healing. 2 months later it was still completely numb, and by now it was clear I had nerve damage, so I went back to the office to talk about it. Although upset, I recognized it was a risk I agreed to and not a reflection of his skill as a surgeon, so I wasn't accusatory at all, just asked what I could do. I was stunned to find him completely condescending and rude to me. I showed him where the numbness was and he said, that's impossible, you don't understand how the nerves work (which is true, but I know where I'm numb!). Finally he believed me, but only after basically accusing me of lying. P.S. I'm still numb.

Dr. Frank Dal Santo is a great dentist, his staff is great all except for the office manager Gita. She is extremely pushy and it gets to the point were she becomes really obnoxious and irritating. Other than that her my experience at this facility was great. A little expensive but the implants I had placed were great. I would recomend that if you chose this facility that you would work with anyone other that the office manager oh and the Implant coordinator ( cannot remember her name) is somewhat of an Air Head!

You get what you pay for. The prices were high, but my insurance covered the majority of it, and the amount that I paid was very fair. He had fantastic facilities, stellar employees, great bedside manner and incredibly patient when it came to expaining procedures. It was the best dental experience ever. Frankly, you dont want to go to a dentist who's the cheapest on the block--imagine what you get. Dr. Dal-santo was worth every penny!!!!

Dr. Dal Santo seemed competent, but after paying $250 for a consultation with him and getting an obscenely over priced estimate for my wisdom tooth extraction, I went to Dr. David Ehsan who is also an oral surgeon in the same building. Dr. Ehsan was fantastic, he has an excellent bedside manner, beautiful facilities and the added bonus of being both an anaesthesiologist and affordable. There is something certainly dubious about the Dal Santo operation, when asked why they were so overpriced (to Dr. Dal Santo's credit, he did return my call on this topic), I was told they have excellent customer service and patient care - however, it has been nearly a month and long after my insurance claims from Dr. Ehsan's office are filed and paid, my claim for the Dal Santo consultation is no where to be found. I called his office for the 2nd time and spoke with an extremely rude individual named Coi who basically told me it was not her problem and I will have to call the insurance company myself ! Upon pressing Coi, who was very defensive (possible sign that this happens often) I found that they hadn't even submitted the claim until yesterday ! All in all, a disappointing experience.

Loved this doc! He took me in to perform an extraction even though no one else would - GREAT service, made me feel at ease instantly. It is expensive, but it is my teeth - and for the comfort, i would pay for it!

I don't agree with the other reviews on this site. I found Dr. Del Santo's manner to be condescending, and his services were significantly overpriced compared with other excellent dental surgeons in the Bay Area. I was referred to Dr. Del Santo for an extraction, but after his office estimated the cost of an implant procedure to be close to $3500, I did some research and found an expert in the field who charged about half that amount. Also, Dr. Del Santo insisted that the implant procedure would need to be done under IV sedation (for a significant additional charge), which was evidently for his own convenience. The other dental surgeon I found preferred to use Novacaine so that he could consult with me during the procedure. I have now had the implant and Novacaine was just fine. It is worth being a good consumer and shopping around. There is a wide variation in price for these procedures among equally qualified surgeons.
