This man and his former (now retired) partner, Dr Ryan, basically saved my life. I had had surgeries with another oral surgeon in Madison. I had seen a so-called TMJ specialist. Treated by PT in two different groups. I was ultimately told there was nothing "really" wrong, not to have more surgery as it wouldn't help. I was, at that point, in constant pain. This had gone on for several years by then. These two doctors were the only ones who believed me, figured out the problem and solutions. They also helped convince my insurance company to pay for several procedures and surgeries. I have had bilateral jaw joint replacements for not quite 9 years now and NO pain. I cannot say enough good things about this surgeon and clinic/hospital! Thank you for having my life back!

Dr. Sewall is fantastic. My daughter had jaw reconstruction. His staff, residents and nurses are very caring and explain all of the procedures well. He spoke to the parents in a way we understood, but took into consideration our childs feelings, fears, anxiety and took the time to pursue any possible questions she may have had. He also saw us whenever there was a post operative problem, and treated us with great empathy. Our insurance covered most of the treatment. He made us feel very confident that the procedure would help her condition.

About Front Desk: Very nice, helped with scheduling conflicts if at all possible with school/work issues. We sympathetic that we have to go to work and school and worked around that. In additon, his assistant was very thorough, she helped to coordinate with me, my daughter, the surgeon and the orthodontists office. it was quite the scheduling nightmare, but she was pleasant and very helpful.

I have been a patient of Dr Sewalls for over 15 years. I was sent to him with major TMJ problems after several others doctors couldnt help me. I went through total TMJ joint replacements, and all the procedures that followed. Without his help i dont know where i would be today. He has operated on me over a dozen times and has gotten me to the point where i can function resonably well. I had all but given up hope before going to him. He is a very caring Doctor. He takes time to research options and explain things to you in a manner which you can understand. He is there if you have questions and is truely concerned when or if problems arise. I was lucky to have found a Doctor who i trust as much as i do Dr Sewall. I would highly recommend him. When my son needed Wisdom teeth removed, i never even considered anyone else, and Dr Sewall did a great job with his procedure too! I couldnt find a better person to help me through all the problems i have had to endure.

I would not recommend Dr Sewall. If everything goes well in the surgery he would be fine. If you have problems he has a terrible chair side manner. He is very abrubt and curt. My daughter had been in pain for 10 days. The first time after the surgery she went to see him and he was ok, but continued to have pain, the 2nd time he put in a second packing, she still had pain..... She had 2 dry sockets! She was whincing in the chair as he was cleaning out the gum area and he told her to BE QUIET. At 18 a kid doesnt have the guts to say anything about such behavior. I went with her the 3rd time, he wanted to clean the areas again and she said no....its too painful...He put his hand in the air and said he couldnt do anything else....at that point I saw how abrubt his behavior was. I as a parent felt he should know about his bad chair side manner as I told him. Some compassion for the pain would have went a long way. She is still in pain 2 weeks after the surgery. I guess she will rely on ibuprofen for as long as it takes.

About a year ago, Dr. Sewall removed an oral tumor from my jaw. He explained everything thoroughly and made sure that I understood the entire process. I felt as though he made decisions with my best interest in mind. I also like the way he interacted with his students and allowed them to learn from their experience with me. I had very little pain, despite the removal of this tumor, loss of teeth, and bone graft from my hip. He was phenomenal with my insurance company, who was giving us the runaround, and was vital in helping us secure coverage for the procedure.

Dr. Sewall was the best oral surgeon or dentist I've ever experienced. In high school I had a major jaw surgery done by him, and was so amazed by his work that I decided I wanted to help people just as he helped me, so I am studying to become a DDS myself. It takes one word to describe Dr. Sewall; "amazing".

Dr. Sewall was the surgeon recommended to take out my wisdom teeth. He is a kind, warm, caring physician. When I went in for my consult, he made me feel at ease right away. He also recommended to NOT take out my lower teeth due to possible nerve issues. He wasn't about to perform surgery I didn't need. When there was a scheduling problem, he took me in during his prep period and performed the surgery then. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sewall. He genuinely cares about his patients and I could not be happier with his services!
