I was a patient in the late 70’s while I was in Junior High. The experience was so bad that I feel compelled to write a review. I had braces (metal bands that went around each tooth).
When he was first putting them on he had to find the right size. He would try to fit them by hammering them on. When the band didn’t fit he would throw it back into the “bin” and sometimes tried fitting the same one on again. I was bleeding and crying - he gave me an aspirin and told me to shut up and stop crying. (This is the only time in my life I have cried from pain – I didn’t even cry when I broke my leg as a kid!)
If he didn’t like the way you were behaving, he would threaten to leave your braces on longer. Once I upset him by talking with the kid sitting next to me while we were waiting. He went over and wired the kid’s braces together so he couldn’t talk! I already had my braces off or he would have done the same to me.
As an adult I went back because me lower teeth were moving. He was very condescending and said it was my fault because I didn’t wear my retainer. The lower retainer he had on me was NOT removable! I did not have him do any further work on me.
He also had a bunch of clowns in the office - to this day I hate clowns.
