It has been ten years since I had braces with Dr. Terpstra. I have lived in three states and had three different dentists in that time. This morning, after hearing from my third dentist the same indignation about the job my orthodontist did as I heard from the other three, I thought it was time to write a review.
What has appalled the three dentists that I have gone to over the last 10 years is that there are two large gaps where Dr. Terpstra had two perfectly healthy teeth pulled so that he could "make room" to bring my teeth together. The only problem was that after 5 YEARS of braces with Dr. Terpstra, the gaps remained. He never used the "room" he made in my mouth. After 5 years I was off to college and at that point didn't have any faith he could make my teeth any better and had them taken off. My frustration and my mother's frustration with our experience with Dr. Terpstra has, as I said, been validated by every single dentist I've been to since.
Aside from that, going to Dr. Terpstra's office is not a pleasant experience. When I went there the staff was wonderful, but the Dr. himself is incredibly prickly and rather pompous. Don't you dare question or criticize what he suggests (especially if you are a woman). He
