Read Reviews for Dr. La Jolla Dental Group
I started seeing a dentist in this location back when it was Petersen & Petersen. So, I kept going after the Petersens retired & it changed to La Jolla Dental Group. It was a poor decision. While I never used to be apprehensive about visiting the dentist, I have come to dread it fiercely. The default attitude of the staff is blunt but unhurried. If you are especially nice and "grease the wheels," they will be courteous in return. My experience was that they do not go out of their way to deal with the insurance companies for you, so expect to do most of the work yourself if you need approvals, etc.
Expect long waits. Don't think that because you've been called back to a dental room that you'll be seen right away. I've spent over an hour, more than once, sitting in the chair, waiting for someone to see me.
Cleanings are a mixed bag, depending on who you get. I've had many cleanings where I felt there was a lack of effort to be gentle and no effort to be comforting.
Don't expect any extras like a take-home toothbrush, mouthwash, or floss. I think they might have magnets, though.
To give you an idea of cost, a composite filling is $220 (not covered by my HMO-style dental insurance).
