Read Reviews for Dr. Michael R Herman
After a few years of mounting suspicion, my new dentist confirmed my fears. I had expensive work that was not necessary - inlays that could have been fillings, ill fitting crowns, etc. Worst, the expensive dental work did not fit right, I had to return multiple times for bit adjustments, and the crown fell out after just a few months. By the way - I go to the dentist regularly and have never "needed" as much dental work as during my time with Dr. Herman
About Front Desk: They were fine, but things like walking in halfway through a procedure to give me a new higher estimate of the bill amount (after the old dental work had been removed) didn't sit well with me.

I previously wrote a review. However I forgot to mention, Dr. Herman seemed eager to be rid of me and my insurance CIGNA HMO. After I agreed to see their perio, they called me back and told me the Dr. did not want me as a patient!!!! I guess, because I argued with them over seeing a perio before Dr. Herman would evaluate me, they decided I was not worth the effort. First time an office told me they didn't want me as a patient. Moral -- do not disagree with this dentist in the least.

Good overall service, but have had some problems with treatments and being asked to pay for retreatment. My root canal, performed by Dr. Han in Dr. Herman's office, failed and was retreated twice. They then told me I needed surgery to fix the problem. What really gets me is that I went in for only a filling and they ended up doing two root canals that failed! After going to oral surgery specialist that they recommended, I was told to do surgery, but warned that it might fail and I could lose my teeth! Went to another more expensive dentist on Madison Ave and got a second opinion, that I don't need surgery, just retreatment, which I had at the second dentist and it was a complete success. No more pain and I have my teeth.

Dr. Herman's office is nice, located at an expensive address. As such, his fees for anything beyond a cleaning can be high. Shop around before making a decision to go here.
