Read Reviews for Dr. Joseph Zimmer
My wife initially started seeing Dr. Zimmer based on a couple of coworker recommendations. I had a tooth 'blow up' one weekend, and Dr. Zimmer was able to see me. I changed to him and was pleased for several years.
My perspectives of his service seems to be consistent with current reviews; since the (substantial) expansion of his business he seems to be in a rush all the time, and is over-extended. I had a crown fail and it was replaced in February with a porcelain crown. I have an extremely high pain tolerance, being an ex-wrestler and football player, but his dental hygienist was very rough with me and it was probably the most pain I've ever endured. Oh, the 9 month old crown broke this past weekend. That tooth had a root canal, but some type of infection has popped up with it; looks like it's not done. I told a dentist who happens to be a neighbor of mine about Dr. Zimmer's mew 'business model', and the first thing the other person asked me was 'what is his age', and then commented that he could be trying to crank up revenue and setting up the business for a sale and retire.
Years ago I considered Dr. Zimmer a caring and a talented dentist, but his 'new' direction is not good; I need a new dentist.

I've been going to Dr. Zimmer's for the past 15 years and during the time I have moved several times. I have gone to see him even when I lived in Anacortes, then Bellevue, and now in Federal Way. I feel the commute is worth it. I visit his office 3 times a year, instead of 2 times, b/c I have fast build up. I have always gotten good dental treatment. His office is truly state-of-the art and a fantastic environment. His staff is very professional. Dr. Zimmer is very personable and I believe he also teaches at the UW Dental School. Besides regular check ups and cleaning, I have gotten some minor comestic repairs, like chipped teeth. I have also gotten some preventative treatments. I have also gotten invisilign braces from Dr. Zimmer with results that I was pleased with. I feel he is fair, b/c I have sometimes thought about getting some cosmetic procedures, like teeth whitening, but he told me that I didn't really need it and it may not be worth the costs for the incremental difference, though he was willing to do the procedure if I really desired. I think if he was about making money, he'd have encouraged me to do it, but he did not. As for the costs, I have been fortunate to always have excellent dental insurance.
About Hygienist: Over the last 15 years, I have seen many different hygienists under Dr. Zimmers' care and they have all been well trained and very friendly.

When things don't go right, Dr. Joseph Zimmer will not help you. In the beginning, everyone in the office was nice and all. When I first went there, Dr. Zimmer was very helpful with answering my questions and addressing my needs. But when things did not go right, Dr. Joseph Zimmer does not take responsibility for his actions. He did not return my phone calIs. I would not go back there anymore

I have seen Dr. Zimmer for my bi-annual cleanings. I feel very confident with his experience and expertise. No pain and co-pay as expected.

A kind and hands-off dentist. I never worry that he is going to recommend extra expensive treatments I don't need so that he can line his pockets with my pain.

TERRIBLE FRONT DESK STAFF! Front staff offers absolutely NO help if you're scared of dentists. NONE AT ALL!! Jessica / Cindy are both snotty, rude and uncaring. HELLO, YOU'RE LOSING PATIENTS BECAUSE OF THEIR RUDE BEHAVIOR. They are the kind of people who enjoy blocking you from getting the help and care you need like receptionist watchdogs. 'No' people instead of 'Yes' people. poorly explain extra costs of sedation for anxiety. refuse to give msg for dr. to return your call for more info. Could care less if you're anxious. Not a good office for people traumatized by bad dentistry in the past. I'm going to try Dr. Mark Caggiano, his receptionist could not BE any better. Dr. Zimmer is nice and has good chairside, if you can get through his watchdogs to talk to him. Young inexperienced dental assistants with high turnover, the longest of them there one year. Good about scraping instead of using the wand. Wanted to charge an extra $350 for relaxation when other office just writes a Rx and you go get it yourself for free under health insurance. WILL NOT BILL YOU, you have to pay up front. Too good for you, stuck up attitude. They act like they could care less about you like they don't need patients. Typical Seattle freeze behavior

Beautiful and cheerful office, great attitude of staff, and very competent work. In addition to regular cleanings, I've had several crowns and an implant for a tooth that broke. All have been good results, and no pain. Dr Zimmer is great on communication. He's always been happy to discuss the treatment alternitives in terms of both satisfactory result and cost. Another small perk, in downtown Seattle he provides tokens for free parking. Also, all of his records and x-rays are on computer, which I think makes for fewer mistakes and problems. They are also great at handling insurance problems. (I've had a couple of those.) And you'd think with an office so plush and a dentist who does a lot of cosmetic dentistry that he'd be expensive. But he's not. He's a preferred provider for evey insurer my husband and I've had over the years. I live in Bellevue now, but I'd still rather drive into Seattle to go to him than pick a another dentist.

Poor results. The office is nice and all. Staff are friendly. But the bad thing is the results are not good. I would not go back here.

I was looking forward to seeing this dentist, but after having a furry black CAT follow us to the x-ray room. I had to decline any further treatment. I mean is it really sanitary or good business in the health industry to be letting your cat have free run of the office space. Lot's of potential patients could be put in jeopardy because of this. I got back to my office, and was itching, and was having some slight trouble breathing. Yes I have severe allegies to cats, but still, this is not and antique store in Quincy, this is a medical office.
To make things worse, It had been a long time since I have been to the dentist, due to a phobia. The assistant was visibly irritated that she had to deal with me, and the ladies at the desk made light of how she had to take care of me. They thought they were doing it quietly, but they weren't. I heard it, and felt a bit embarassed.
