This dentist was very temperamental. He was impatient, rude, very rough executing his procedures, always made me wait, even though I could see him talking with other dentists and chatting on his cellphone. He was usually in a very bad mood, and abusive to his assistants too. He probably was competent, but I did not trust his treatment plan.

Very sales-oriented toward recommending new fillings for me. Debating whether to go back to him.

I recently went in for work on my front 4 teeth and experienced the poorest treatment by a medical proffessional. I had stressed to this person who considers himself a dentist who knows it all, according to him, how concerned I was that my teeth should look good and acceptable prior to begining the work. When I went back to get my crown and veneers put in he glued them and never asked me how they looked up until he was done. This is not good practice, according to a second opinion that I received. The cardinal rule for veneers and crowns is that they are glued in temporarily and not permanently. The work was subpar and when I complained about it he became agitated and anoyed and began to yell at me. I will quote exactly what he said, : You said you liked the work and I will not change it. Who in the world is this person.
The guy has an attidude problem. Does poor work and does not stand behind it. He losses his temper easily, blames the patient for everything. Does not care about the health of his patient and not concerned with their worries.
I was quoted one price then I was charged another after having the work done.
Advice to all, stay away from Metropolitan Dental Associates, NY, and this guy Steven Mitgan

I visited Metropolitan Dental Associates during my lunch break for a consultation (cosmetic dent.) I had been there once before for a routine cleaning
Here are my observations about the office overall:
mediocre facilities
rushed appointments
rude/indifferent staff
LONG LONG , LONG waits-- I'm talking 1 hour
cleanings are not thorough
the staff (ie) receptionists etc know nothing about the procedures
Dr. Mitgang was knowledgeable enough, but pretty rude. I've never wanted to walk out of a dentists chair before. I would have probably used his services tho had it not been for the less than inviting decor in the office. Also he's only there on Fridays and there is no way (so they say) of contacting him otherwise.
