Dr Stanard provides exceptional service. He provided pain-free treatment, being very diligent with his follow up to ensure that all was well after the surgery . He is extremely courteous and takes the time to explain what is needed and the treatment required. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing dental surgery.

My very first gum graft, and I'm actually quite pleased with the overall experience. First, Dr Stanard and his staff are great. He's very friendly and answered all my questions, and importantly my procedure itself was completely successful. He also gave him his personal cell phone number and called me after the procedure to check up on me personally. His staff are great too, very friendly and helpful, and they actually recognized me by sight and remembered my name after a few visits, which I thought was pretty amazing. I was always able to get appointments relatively easily and never had to wait long after arriving.
Second, the office location is great -- conveniently located right by the Dupont Circle metro (south exit), and there's a pharmacy right next door (so you can pick up prescription meds afterwards). It's also convenient to be able to grab soups and shakes after your procedure at the lunch places immediately next door (because you can't eat solid food after your gum graft and are in no mood to go trudging around the city).
All in all, I'm very happy with Dr Stanard!
About Front Desk: Kevin was the front desk staff member I worked with the most. Super friendly and he recognized me and said hi every time I walked in the door.

I had so much dental work done during the last years on three continents and had good surgeons and very good dentists. However, from my experience until now, Dr. Stanard is the best! Despite his athletic stature, he was gentle and careful during the two hrs surgery. The way he administrated the anesthesia was close to perfection. I rarely seen such a talented dental surgeon, he was made for this. He is in his element, he is very knowledgeable and skilled, he is an outstanding communicator. He enjoys what he is doing. He accepts insurances. What else? You cannot find a better one in DC, that's for sure.

About Front Desk: It weren't that Dr. Stanard is such a fine doctor, I would go elsewhere. I find the front office staff very unprofessional and almost rude when they called me today asking to come in today at the last minute and change my schedule because my appointment time interferes with their "lunch time". That appears to be the office's issue. Not my issue. Then they shouldn't schedule the doctor at the lunch hour. That is not my problem.

I have been a patient of Dr. Stanard's for years. In my opinion, he is the best periodontist in DC!!! He is very professional, competent and patient oriented. Over the years, he has provided me with invaluable education and my gums remain very healthy. Years ago when I first went to him my gums were very sensitive and bleed very easily. That is no longer the case due to annual care, treatments and education. Prior to moving to the DC area, I had been to several other periodontists. However, none of them could match the care and service provided by Dr. Stanard. Without a question, Dr. Marc Stanard exceeds the 4 star rating here. When I come across people looking for an excellent periodontist, I tell them about Dr. Stanard because great doctors in this field are hard to come by. If you need a fantastic periodontist Dr. Stanard is the man for your job and you will not be sorry! The Office Manager is Rodney, he is fantastic too and can't do enough for the patients.

I was referred to Dr. Stanard by my dentist approximately 12-15 years ago for a deep root cleaning. He discovered I had severe bone loss and presented the opportunity to regenerate bone through a new dental procedure. I am happy to report that Dr. Stanard's technique and skill produced excellent results. This year (2009) I came back for the same procedure in four separate locations and he is just as enthusiastic about the procedure as he was when he first performed it. During surgery #3, I listened to him educate a substitute dental technician about the procedure and associated instruments and materials. He genuinely seems to enjoy his profession and treating patients. He has a great sense of humor and is abreast of restaurants, bars, live performances and DC-related events. As others have noted, he patiently explains the procedure and responds to questions. He administers the anesthesiolgy painlessly and prescribes just the right level of pain medication post-surgery. Dr. Stanard's staff is proficient and courtesous. His DC office is located near the Dupont Circle Metro station; he plays cool music over the intercom and the reading material in the lobby is intelligent and trendy. I expect to grow old with him!!!

Dr. Stanard is an excellent periodontist. He is warm and friendly, but more than that he is very thorough and knowledgeable. He calls after surgery and follows up on doing everything he says he will do. Also, his office staff is very friendly and professional.

Dr. Stanard is the kind of doctor who totally puts you at ease. He takes his time with you and seems to really know how to make you comfortable in his office. He always calls the day after surgery to check on you, to make sure you are doing ok. His staff is very friendly and helpful too.
