Dr. Jim Henley has been my dentist for over 25 years. He is amazing. I searched all over Sonoma County for a dentist who would work on me without a numbing agent, due to serious allergic reactions to drugs. Most dentists were afraid to try, as you can feel any mistakes that are being made. Dr. Henley said as long as I didn't move, he was fine with that. Over the years, he has even done crowns without shots. I meditate during the work and the atmosphere is perfect. There are pictures on the ceiling, headphones with music or T.V. and a pond with plants and wildlife right outside the window. For one root canal, Dr. Henley told me he would have to do shots. He made the experience as easy as possible, numbing me first, then doing the shots, and having me stay to make sure I didn’t have an adverse reaction. I am like the princess and the pea, when it comes to changes in my mouth. I can feel the least little difference in my bite. Dr. Henley works hard to make sure that my bite is just right, before I leave the office. If something changes after a few days, he is happy to have me come back in for an adjustment. He keeps up on all the latest treatments in the world of dentistry. His skills have not diminished over time. He is also aware of my financial situation. Yesterday, he took some small steps and treated me immediately, so that I won't end up with a dental emergency that would cost so much more.
As a teacher, I really appreciate his dedication to the community, especially the young people. JT, as community members call him, is a past-president and a founder of the Rohnert Park Active 20-30 club. He is a past President and Board member of both the Rohnert Park Chamber of Commerce and the Education Foundation. He served as president of Sonoma County Adult and Youth Development for 26 years, an organization providing human services for the cities of Rohnert Park and Cotati. Now, he is involved with SAY, dedicating his work to making sure young people who age out of foster care do not become homeless. I am glad my dentist is not just about amassing money but has a social conscience.
His office staff is very professional but also warm and friendly. I can't say enough about his hygienists. Shira is mine right now. She has given me wonderful advice on how to care for my teeth as I age. Over the years, I have had only three hygienists. His registered dental assistant, Terry, is incredible. She has been with Jim as long as I have. I have a friend who is afraid of dental work. Her gentle manner and the care she took with him made all the difference. Due to her skill and compassion, he was able to have dental work without fear for the first time in his life. His other assistant, Karin, is talented and funny. She makes you want to go to the dentist. She too has been there for years. This speaks to Dr. Henley's treatment of those he works with. Only life changes like family needs, moving, or retirement cause people to leave. This is a great office with extremely kind and talented people led by the man I consider to be the best dentist in Sonoma County, Dr. Jim Henley.
