Got referred to Dr. Angell's office to determine if a root canal could save my tooth. The referring office explicitly instructed them to not do the root canal (to save money) if it was determined the crack was too deep to save the tooth.
When the tooth was opened, it was determined it could not be saved. I understand there is some work in opening the tooth and I would pay for that. My tooth was later extracted that day at another dental practice.
To my surprise, when I received the bill the office had charged $830 for the work. This is MORE than what another dentist would charge for a complete root canal. I already paid $275 up front during the visit while they also got compensated by my insurance.
What gets me is they were still after additional money because the insurance didn't fully pay what they felt they were entitled to. I called the office to explain how I felt the fees were too high given the original objective of trying to save money by not completing a root canal. In speaking to Nancy (billing admin) about this, her demeanor soon turned sour and she ended up hanging up on me. This is extremely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL behavior.
I don't understand the 5 star reviews - probably shills.

Dr. Angell came to my rescue after several years of very poor experience my prior dentist. He saved two of my teeth that I had been advised would need extraction. My case was extremely complicated. Not only did Dr. Angell do excellent work, he is a very compassionate and knowledgeable person. Highly recommend Dr. Angell!!

If you can get past uncomfortable feeling in the office and the doctors unfriendliness then you are good to go. He does good work but his chairside manner is unpersonal and the office is too quite. I overheard Dr. Angell talking to his staff, he was very disrespectful and rude, making the atmosphere very uncomfortable. He actually got out of his chair during a root canal to talk to the girl in the office about a patient that was rescheduling and he told her no not to reschedule her she cancelled on him.

Dr. Angell is truly an expert in his field. He is uncommonly consciencous about his work and performs his tasks with the ultimate professionalism.
You may find that Dr. Angell seems a little abrasive when dealing with his office staff, but this is merely because he demands the same level of excellence from them as he does from himself.
He is very pleasant with his patients and makes sure everything is properly explained to you before and during the process. He also makes sure you are as comfortable as possible and that you experience absolutely no pain during the entire process.
When it comes time to have a root canal done make sure you use Dr. Angell. After my experience with him I would never choose anyone else.
