a brilliant, warm, effective, personable dentist. patient, explains everything. works with you. a wizard at difficult, pernickity procedures. emphasizes proactive preventive health. has done my fillings and crowns. saw me me through root canal, which he doesn't do of course, but he made the whole process -- i have to say -- *pleasant.* put that in your pipe and smoke it. his best quality is his competence. next to that, his professional knowledge. lastly, he seems to care. he does the teeth cleaning himself. his assistant is a quiet beautiful woman and his receptionist is the person you would want to have with you in a jam. she is on top of things. my insurance company won't pay more than a trifle of my fees because he isn't on their list but this dentist is that good that i go to him anyway.

It's odd to give a review for 1 day of work, but Dr. Stallsmith deserves it. He's great! I went to him to clean-up the sloppy work of another dentist. The temporary crowns on my two front teeth fell off a day after being put on, and my dentist was no where to be found. But because Dr. Stallsmith was a couple of blocks away, i called his office and they actually agreed to see me right away. From the moment i walked in, the staff and Dr. Stallsmith were very attentive and responsive to my problem. Stallsmith cleaned me up, even fixed my bite, all the while explaining what he was doing, asking if i was ok, and apologizing for any pain I was feeling (there was no pain). Afterwards, the good dentist showed me why my gums were sore, told me that there's no excuse for crowns to fall off less than 24 hrs. after going on, and showed me why my dentist's work was sub-standard.
All of this for the price of $30!
On top of this, he advised me to contact my insurance, cancel the permanent crowns and find myself a new dentist. He and his staff wrote and gave me documents explaining what they did and why I had to go to him and not my own dentist. He even recommended other dentists. What a great man, I only wish he took my insurance

Although I no longer work on the Hill, I go out of my way to see him because he's so good. He's great with kids and has been treating both of my children since their first appointment. Before they had their own appointments, he let them come in to watch my cleaning just to get comfortable with the whole idea. No one's ever complained about treatment - he's gentle and informative. And he's set up his office to be a pleasant place to come.
About Hygienist: His staff are great. They're practically like family and I think he's had the same receptionist as long as I've known him. Even after two months abroad he remembered me and my situation. It's a nice change from the usual nameless, faceless corporate type clinics.

Dr. Stallsmith's office is in the basement of an old townhouse - not as sterile as a hospital, and some parts are downright grody. That said, everything else is satisfactory. The front desk is always corteous the whole operation is punctual - I've never waited for more than a few minutes for my appointment. Can't really speak to price since insurance covers it all. Treatment thus far (cleanings and fillings) have been a success.

I love Dr. Stallsmith. He is very gentle and always does good work. His office is metro accessible. All the staff are very friendly and helpful.

We've seen Dr. Stallsmith for routine cleanings for about 6 years. He is a gentle, careful and seemingly very good dentist. He does all the work himself-there is no hygenist and I think this really saves time. It's a small, well-managed practice that my husband and I would highly recommend.
