Dr. Atkins treated my husband and myself for years successfully and we thought it would be easier to move our entire family over to him. All was fine until he had to fill our 4-year-old's cavity. Now, she is a nervous child so I knew she would need patience and extra time, but Dr. Atkins exhibited little-to-no patience with her at all. He threatened numerous times that mom would have to leave the room if she didn't cooperate, scared her into opening her mouth by waving around a black rubber piece that she hated having in her mouth, stormed out of the room in anger and showed so little compassion for her that I've been in tears for over an hour. I'm not a 'softie' of a mother; I expect my children to be obedient, kind and to 'tough things out' but he frightened her to such a state that she were in the fetal position, crying. When she said "It hurt" = which it may not have but was just fearful; he kept harassing her for saying so & was rough with her as she wouldn't open her mouth wide enough, etc. I confronted him after our appointment and our family of 6 will not be returning to him. Shame on me for not going to a pediatric dentist but shame on him for assuring me he could handle children in a patient, kind, and respectful way.
About Hygienist: Hygienists are top-knotch....extremely capable, kind and so is the entire office staff.
