I have always had good luck with dentist however, 4 years ago my Health Plan changed and as luck would have it I broke my tooth. My regular dentist did not want to take my new plan and wanted me to pay out of pocket, NO way. So I looked through my plan and chose Dr Schlessinger. I went to his office in lowere Man. and it was very 60's interior. I loved it, his equiipment was new enough. He was an older dentist & immediately put me at ease with his sense of humor. He gave me a temporary filling and later capped my tooth, both proved to be painless. And as he said it would last at least until I left the office and that was 4 yrs ago. He doesn't encourage you to do things that are costly and mostly ineffective, he gives you an honest take on the situation. He has since moved to midtown and his new digs are definately newer but with the same great service and humor. LOVE him. I do miss that 60's interior though.

Dr. Schlessinger is great. He actually does the cleaning himself (which is rare, and I appreciate the personal attention). He always does a fine job, and aside from that, he is very personable and friendly.

I am a patient of Dr. Schlessinger for about 14 years. His work is meticulous. Prior to engaging hims as my dentist I needed two caps. Yuk, they were howrrible. A friend recommended Dr. Schlessinger and I have a mouthful of caps and veneers and no one can tell. Note, my caps and veneers were needed, not that he just wanted to make a buck. He really tries to save your teeth rather than take the easy way out by recommending extraction.
My fear is that he wil retire and then I'll have a tough time fiding someone as caring as him.
Oh, The office may not be your post Y2K beautiful and ultra mod but the treatment area is immaculate and they spray and wipe down before, during and after every patient.

Excellent service; dentist is always on time for his appointments and does cleaning and work himself, rather than having a dental technician do it!

He seemed like a nice enough guy, but I went in with a tiny cavity (which I had to point out to him, as he missed it) and came out with a big chunky filling that feels rough like a lump of cement. A few months later, the enamel on the tooth next to it cracked, and although I don't have great teeth I can't help but wonder if it was damaged when he did the filling.I can't in good conscience recommend him unless you are on a very restrictive dental plan like i am, in which case he may be competant but not more than that. His office is pretty bare bones. Again, i feel bad because he was nice and i didn't experience any pain or anxiety while in his office, but i can't say i'm happy with the finished result.

Horrible! No hygienist. He does the cleaning himself, which only lasted about 7 minutes, and afterwards I was spitting out bloody chunks. I let him know I was a little alarmed but he brushed it off. And THEN he started to lecture me about having a healthier diet, when all I did was tell him I sometimes drank coffee instead of having breakfast! He wanted me to detail each meal of the day to him, like he was a nutritionist!! The treatment is covered by my network, but I will not be going back.

I went to this dentist once and had a horrible experience -
1. His office was dirty, to the point of making me uncomfortable regarding sterilization of instruments
2. He gave me a hard time about wantint to see my own x-rays.
3. I was in pain, which he was less than compassionate about
4. The filling he did was put in so poorly that the next dentist I went to was disgusted by his work
