I went to Mary Mahoney / Perry Klaassen Dental Clinic today for a second round of extractions. Dr. Bostick did two extractions three weeks ago. Once they were completed last time I was then informed that they did not prophylactically prescribe antibiotics in any scenario despite my medical history and compromised immune status. Three days later I have fever and one site draining puss. Four calls later AND A WEEKEND I finally get a return call from Dr. B. who calls in the script under protest. Today I go back to get stitches out and round two of extractions. When I am called back I tell the assistant I will be needing an rx for antibiotics per my pcp's recommendation based upon my health history. Shortly Dr. Comes back to the treatment booth and starts LOUDLY AND UNPROFESSIONALLY lecturing me on the misuse and over use of anti biotics and how she was not sending me home with a script. I attempt to calm her down and to get her to move forward with the procedure which makes her go off even louder in front of staff and within ear shot of other patients. (Where is hippa when you need it?) I finally, in tears, get my purse and leave with her still screaming after me. I call back to the office manager and get blown off. I came to this clinic because they work on a sliding scale based upon need. I felt I had no options. Tell your friends...STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLINIC! I still have stitches that need removal and another broken tooth that needs taken out. I have no dental insurance and no where to go for help.
