I highly recommend Dr. McDowell. He's refreshingly conservative in his approach, looking to do what is best for your long term dental health (and not looking to just do a procedure so he can make some money-which I've experienced with other dentists). He's also very friendly, caring and personable--and you never feel like you're bugging him as you asking him a million questions ( and it's always nice to form a connection with your dentist, instead of feeling like you're part of an assembly line). Been going to him for 10 years, and of 5 dentists I've seen in my life--he's the one I'd recommend to family.

Terrible in the fact that I had to return to him three times for the same tooth that he seemed bot to be able to fix the first two times. I understand that he billed my insurance for the first filling, but then it got infected and he had to root canal the tooth and charged my insurance around $800. I got the bill from what my insurance doesn't cover and took it to the dentist. I was told that he did everything right and I need to just pay the bill. I took my entire family from his practice and had to file a complaint with the Oregon board of dentistry. Still unresolved as of now.

I would highly recommend Dr McDowell to my friends and family. I feel like he takes care of what needs to be done and does not look for work to pad his own pocketbook, like our previous dentist did. He is very conscientious and a perfectionist in his work. Charges are very competitive, or below average. The office staff is great and very accommodating. If you have had major work done he himself will call you at home to make sure you are doing OK. He takes a personal interest in each patient, and remembers who they are, and and even what they do.
About Front Desk: Very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Excellent about giving estimates ahead of procedures.

About Hygienist: Gentle but efficient. Friendly but not overly chatty when she is working on you and can not reply.

Dr. McDowell saved my husbands teeth. Our other dentist office was unable to schedule him until a few months out even though they knew he was at risk of losing a tooth! Dr. Mcdowell is kind, thorough, very knowledgeable, and excellent with our small children. The office staff are efficient and the hygienists great too! We are so thankful we found a dentist who cares about our family and our teeth.

My daughter had her first visit ever to a dentist and was worried that it was going to hurt. Dr. McDowell talked about the "bug" (cavity) in teeth and how he was going to take care of it. It was so completely pain free and enjoyable, that she asked if we could come back again next week... He clearly has his own kids and knows how to talk to them to keep them calm and at ease during the procedure. He has his own treasure trove of treats that she go to pick a puzzle from when she was done. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. McDowell is arrogant and will get mad if you question what he tells you. Dont bother asking how long your treatment will require because he won't give you a straight answer. His staff is very nice and know what they are doing, but as for Dr.McDowell you will see him all of two minutes each time you go. I wish I would have gone to a different dentist. Dont make the same mistake I did.

I have known Dr. McDowell since he opened his practice. Our entire family goes to his office, and have been very pleased with the entire staff. One of the best things I like about Dr. McDowell is his caring personality and his donation of time to underprivledged people. I highly recommended his to everyone I know!

Both of our chidren and my husband go to Dr. McDowell. The entire office staff is GREAT in every way. My children actually look forward to going to the dentist!
