Dr. Kay has been my family dentist for at least 12 years. He has always done an excelent job and his staff is great to work with. He even came in on Christmas eve to assist me with a dental emergency, way above the call of duty.

My whole family has seen Dr. Kay for over 5 years and would not change for anything. His work is great and his staff treat us like family. Its always easy making appointments and getting seen last minute!!!

I had gone to Dr. Kay for many years. I suppose he does good work, but it seems as though lately things have fallen off. Their office hours have gotten very weird. I had noticed over the years that his office seems to have an extremely high turnover -- never seem to see the same people there for long. Then recently, my wife had problems with them -- they couldn't seem to get a crown to fit or match and he had to come in several times before they got it right. They also hit a nerve during that series of visits as I recall and caused her a great deal of pain. So we switched dentists.
Boy, was that an eye-opener. We are now with a great practice in Kent that is operated by two dentists. They keep regular hours and have a loyal, happy and stable staff. I had no idea how out-of-date Dr. Kay's equipment was until I saw this place -- amazing! And they are also remarkably cheaper than Dr. Kay, which really makes me wonder about them.
But what happened recently was the last straw: after not hearing from them for months, I suddenly get a threatening notice for money not paid, and they are going to refer us to collections! What? They never sent us a bill!! That's it: they're incompetent. Avoid at all costs.
About Hygienist: Like I said, avoid these people at all costs. You never know what their billing department is going to do next.

Dr. Kay has excellent credentials having previously taught classes (part time) at the UW dental school. His needle "procedure" for injecting Novocaine is practically painless. He's a perfectionist and if something isn't right always strives to correct it. If a procedure is required beyond his specialty and expertise, he never hesitates recommending going to an outside specialist rather than trying to do it himself.
As best as I can tell, he treats his staff with respect, and they like working for him. They have always been courteous and helpful. He sends email reminders for upcoming appointments, which I find convenient.
I wouldn't hesitate recommending him to family or friends.

I've been in to see Dr. Kay on multiple occasions, as well as his staff seeing other members of our family. His staff is very friendly, and they do a good job of setting their customers at ease. Dr. Kay takes the extra time necessary to perform good work, even if that means having to call other patients to have them come in a bit later. This extra effort goes a long ways in my book!
