Read Reviews for Dr. Rick Chavez
I feel it is important to warn others about my personal experience with Rick Chavez, DDS. Service was poor, the inside and equipment seem to be very outdated. They overcharged me over $1000. I notified them by mail about my concern but they never respond. I've asked them to mail me an itemized statement and they never do.
The office receptionist, Marie, is the worst. She is rude and unprofessional. They refuse to mail me statements or accept my payments sent by mail to their office.
I would not recommend Rick Chavez, DDS or this dental office to anyone, ever.

My wife and I went to Dr. Chavez because he had treated us a few years earlier and we trusted him. We expected to be fairly and ethically treated and charged reasonable prices. We found his manner of conducting business was anything but fair and ethical in that we were charged for x-rays that he did not take or were unnecessary, exams that he did not make, co-payments that the insurance company did not require, and for denture repair that he did not make. We found that he never called our insurance company even once and sent us away without fixing our problems, even though there was insurance to cover some of them. His staff treated us rudely and with contempt when we tried to talk to them about this. We tried to talk to Dr. Chavez about these things more than once, but while each time he promised to check on this and get back to us, he never did. And as for what he did charge: It took him 8.5 minutes to glue a loose bridge back in for which he charged $221. ($1,547 per hour rate). To re-glue on a cap on a tooth for my wife it took 3.5 minutes and they charged $231. ($3,960 per hour rate). Dr. Chavez has threatened to turn us over for collections unless we pay an additional disputed amount.

Nothing in this practice has changed in 30 years. The methods and equipment are old, dirty and antiqued. The entire staff is phony nice. I learned the hard way that his practice prescribes work that doesn't need to be done just to make money. The filthy old office is really offputting.

Very gentle and respectful of even the biggest "babies' ie...me. Removed my son's wisdom teeth with virtually no pain. Always greets his patients like they were family into his warm, fireside waiting room.
Competent and knowledgeable regarding the latest, most modern aspects of dentistry. Willing to work with any budget, follows up with phone calls after work just to see how patients are doing. Hands down the best dentist I have ever visited and at 47, I've seen my fair share of dentists.
My recommendations do not come easily. In fact, this is the first I have ever written for a dentist.
About Hygienist: Kathy deep cleaned my teeth with virtually NO pain. Nitrous was even included in the procedure as I have had horrible dental experiences in the past.. My teeth have never been so white, even after my ZOOM treatment a year ago elsewhere! She's gentle and kind and does not make you feel badly regardless of what shape your teeth are in. A rare and wonderful surprise, go see her now!

Dr. Chavez is the nicest dentist you will ever meet. He is gentle and attentive during the dental work he does, and hands you a flower when you leave. He is always gracious and sends thank you notes to you at home. Any time I have ever had to call him at HIS home for emergency treatment, he is never annoyed--or at least he never acts like he is-- and again, follows up with get well cards! I know he also supports cleft palate repair surgery for children in Mexico. I LOVE Dr. Chavez as a human, for he is definetly making the world a better place through his kindness. I have had several crowns done there and have had no prblems with the work he has done. He has also been exceptionally kind with allowing me to pay my bill at a schedule my life could deal with, as oppposed to other dentists who would send you to collections or at least refuse to see you anymore as a patient if you owed them money. His staff is also loving and kind. I STRONGLY recommend Dr. Chavez to anyone and everyone I know who needs a dentist.

Dr. Chavez is the kindest, most caring dentist I have ever been to, and there have been many. He is gentle, calm, reassuring. Never any pain when getting novacaine, he has a magical method I've never experienced with other dentists. His hug and a carnation after a tough procedure made me feel like he truly cares. He is more like a friend who is also a denstist. I highly recommend him.

I have only been once thus far for a cleaning, but my experience was pleasant. The facility is a house in the Crown Hill/Ballard area and is quiet and cozy with a fireplace, and a waiting room set up like a living room. The dentists were happy to answer any questions I had were very pleasant. Overall, if you'd like to get away from the large, impersonal sort of dentist office, this is a nice alternative.

Dr. Chavez does excellent work and really cares about his patients and his staff. He hands out carnations to the ladies. After a difficult procedure, you can count on him to call you at home in the evening to find out how you are doing. Rick is also a good citizen. He provides free dental care to the needy on Valentine's Day every year.
