Staff was not too courteous and in a way irrensposible, left xray film in my mouth and went to go chatting with other nurses, and left me there gagging for minutes after the xray was taken. then was not helpful with question regarding insurance and costs. San bruno ave office is old and not too clean

Stress = we're usually the last appt...the dentist is impatient and the nurses rush him SEVERAL times so they can all go home; they think we don't speak their language.
customer service = again, no patience to explain the cost and the procedures. basically just say, you need it and it costs this much. they don't give me any alternative treatments...if you don't follow their instructions, they won't do it. again explanation is minimal. it feels like i'm not wanted there, i'm there because i need to and they're taking advantage of that.
cost = it's more than not giving alternatives and not explaining. i'm not accusing any insurance frauds since i have no evidence, but just discussing my suspicion. EVERY procedure my wife and i go for (deep clean, filling, root canal, regular cleaning), there are added expense not covered by insurance. fluoride rinse, mouth wash, misc lab fees...when asked, they told me to call my insurance. i'm no expert, but not sure we need all those extras. our teeth aren't healthy, but previous dentists (1/2 yr ago) only ask us to do the procedures, no extras.
notes:
why did i change dentist? relocation and diff insurance, 1/2 yr ago
why did i go back? they're 1/2 mile away, next one is 8.

I saw Dr. Tin when I was a teenager. He performed ~ 5 root canals on my molars. They were done very poorly but I didn't know it back then. Some of them had to be re-done by my new dentist when I grew up. When I saw him, he would schedule multiple patients appointments at the same time, and let all of us wait forever on the chairs for his return to perform the next step of the procedure. He gives dentists a bad name and he likes to push you to do extra unnecessary procedures. Overall not a very ethical person and his hand skills definitely could use some work! I go to the same dental school he graduated from, and I'm so sorry that he's giving our school a bad name.

At first I was impressed with Dr Tin's chairside manner & personality - seemingly warm & considerate and his competence in general procedures. However,
after specifically arranging for a teeth cleaning just prior to attending a class reunion, I was told I was scheduled for another procedure instead. I had to vigorously insist on the cleaning, saying the other could be rescheduled for another time. This was obviously not well received as Dr Tin gave me the MOST HURRIED, ROUGH, PAINFUL TEETH CLEANING I have ever eperienced. And since he did it without an assistant, my clothing & face were splashed with water & blood.
I left angry, sad & deeply disappointed, telling the front office personnel I would never return and never have.

This place can get very packed. Dr. Tin should schedule fewer people at the same time. However, overall the service is pretty good.

I went to his office couple months ago for some fillings and stuffs, but I was not seen by Dr Tin in person.....that didn't matter as long as I was treated well. However, I was seen by a lady doc......well I was not discriminating female doc, but she gave me a very negative impression......cos she talked crap to her assistant, when she was doing my fillings. Damned it......holly molly......they were talking about how to deal with their co-workers......something like a conspiracy against somebody.......holly sh_t! Well, I would rather go to some other office....I don't know whether she paid any attention to my teeth or whether she drilled the right one.....so unprofessional.....

He is an exceptional dentist with good skill and heart to me and all of my friends I have referred to him. I wish he could spend more time in San Francisco offices instead of going to overseas offices .
