I am denying the payment of Dr. Kardovichs request based on many factors. I went in for a consultation, at the end of the consult I was told that for him to determine the work needed he required me to get molds and pictures done, so I agreed (keep in mind I wasn't told of any charges for this). I then came back when the molds and pictures were done for another review and analysis of my teeth. At the completion of that visit we were still ironing out whether or not we would be able to work something out with my insurance company to get some coverage. In the interim of that I decided to get a 2nd opinion because Dr. Kardovichs story changed on the length of time as well as price of what he initially advised me of thus, leaving a bad, untrusting feeling to me. I asked him why the length of time almost doubled and he said that's what it is, "tough". Anyway, I go for my 2nd opinion and get told there is a $175 charge for the molds and pictures which I found odd because the first consult I had with Dr. Kardovich there was no charge but I proceeded anyway due to the importance of getting a 2nd opinion when spending this type of money. I received a bill in the mail from Dr. Kardovich stating I owed him $310 for the molds and pictures which I argued back and questioned #1 why it wasn't informed or told to me before he proceeded, #2 why was I able to walk out of the office and not pay for it or told there would be a charge and 3rd if I paid for these molds and pictures, technically they are mine (as he stated) why was I not given them when I left his office after the discussions after reviewing them?? Needless to say when I questioned this cost he advised me that "he would waive the cost and advise his staff to inform them they must tell his "patients" and "potential patients" that there is a charge". This is the ethical way of doing business, to inform your patients of a charge ahead of time, not spring a bill on them unknowingly. I then get a bill in the mail a couple weeks later with this charge again and a request to call the office. I called them to then hear Dr. Kardovich tell me, "he changed his mind and he wanted to bill me". It appears out of spite he wanted to push the bill back on me after first waiving the fee because I decided to go elsewhere.
So be prepared to get "surprise charges" brought up on you when dealing with this guy. I should have really known what I was dealing with when I checked his reviews and only saw negative ones or some sites with no reviews. How are you in business that long with no reviews? Anyway the current orthodontist I happily decided to go with is a top name with well over 50 positive reviews and a 4 1/2 star rating out of 5.
