Dr. Markel was recommended by a co-worker. Our experience was satisfying for the most part. However, on the last visit, my 5 year old, how lost her first tooth was in his chair and he pulled my husband out of the room saying "dad i need to talk to you for 2 mins" My husband obliged and followed him to a room. He left my husband in the room and closed the door. My husband waited for about 3 minutes and then decided to go see what was going on. He went out to see the doctor disciplining his hygienist in front of our child.
I understand that it is preferable to have the child in the room with the parents in an inconspicuous position. However, it is unprofessional of a trained professional to escort a parent out of the room without his consent.
When my husband, who was not pleased, confronted him he was angry and told my husband it's his office and he could do whatever he wants. I suggest if you want to have an opinion where your child's dental health is concerned do not go to this dentist. He thinks because he owns and operates the clinic he can make decisions about other children, regardless of the parents' feelings. I am very disappointed and disgusted with Dr. Markel. He needs to consider self Professional Development.
