I'm in the process of having a dental implant done. A friend of mine also had one done recently by another doctor. She was swollen for a week, paid to be knocked out and said it was awful.
I was awake the whole time and it was over before I knew it. I couldn't believe it. They gave me a 600mg ibuprofen and a 15 minute icepack and some prescriptions, one of which was percocet. By the time I got to the pharmacy, I was afraid the anesthesia was wearing off so I popped a couple of the percocets. Ten minutes later I realized that I hardly had any pain and probably didn't need the percocets. I was right. I needed no more percocet or ibuprofens that day or since. I iced a little bit but not much. By bedtime everything had warn off and I slept med free. I woke the next morning without pain or swelling.
Dr Leal is amazing, very gifted. I highly recommend her.
By the way....her bill was also $800 less than what my friend paid for hers.
