I had root canal therapy with crown 4 years ago.The root canal therapy was excruciating.The tooth did not seem to numb and dr was becoming very angry and impatient.When I told him, he stabbed the needle so forcefully into my gums,I had tremendous pain and heard the needle entering, making a sickening squeaky noise.He proceeded even though I was not numb- I was frightened to complain again and the tooth was half open so felt I couldn't leave.Looking back, I should not have let him continue and walked out, but instead i finished the procedure with minimal numbing.
Now I've learned that the root canal was not successful- I knew the tooth wasn't right before I even walked out the door that day. I left the appt soaked in sweat and shaking -which he didn't seem to notice. I let him place the crown as no numbing was needed and that went smoothly but I never returned after that.
Now waiting to see if I will end up loosing this tooth. This tooth will once again cost a small fortune and is quite anxitey provoking after this experience.I'm aware that root canal therapy is never a guarantee that the tooth will be ok and if it fails it is NOT drs fault. However there is never an excuse for a patient being in the kind of pain I experienced
