I thought Dr. Chan was a great dentist until I moved and had to choose another. Then I realized what I was missing. Dr. Chan spent little time with me during regular visits. Almost all the work was done by his assistant.
He once did x-rays before checking if my insurance would pay for it. They didn't, so I did.
My new dentist found minor cavities Dr. Chan missed and also found a cracked tooth caused by an ageing filling. Dr. Chan's assistant did encourage me to floss to avoid gum disease, but my new dentist did much more than that -- he recommended a deep cleaning and antibiotic to one of my teeth. Now my gums have improved.
I think Dr. Chan is a bit old school. His techniques and equipment are a bit out of date. In fact, he just got digital x-rays on my last visit. But my new dentist has all kinds of fansy gadgets that have helped him to diagnose problems that are now fixed.
