It is a shame to be writing a negative review about a dentist I had trusted and had found via a local referral. After spending (and promptly paying) many thousands of dollars for services, this dentist began pushing me into services I did not want, ordering gum-surgery without asking me first (I said no to this). Dozens of unwanted x-rays were insisted upon before he would help me with my painful teeth, these on top of 30 just taken by a previous dentist. Dr.Dvarskas would not accept these recent high-quality x-rays and, before each additional exposure, insisted that more exposures were medically necessary and that the radiation levels harmless. The total was almost 100 x-rays, in close proximity, between the two dentists. These careless practices came to a painful conclusion when he , Dr.Dvarskas, ordered his unqualified and untrained (in such procedures) hygienist to work unsupervised and take more sets of x-rays. I objected but she said the Dr. needed them. She took multiple exposures in each location, apparently hitting the trigger several times for each shot. Twelve hours later, all the skin on top of my tongue and roof of my mouth broke away in chunks. My entire mouth had been burned.
The severe burning sensation on top of my tongue lasted for more than six months, then began tapering off, only to be followed by stinging lesions developing underneath my tongue. It has been over a year-and-a-half now and I have not had one day of peace, wondering if I will now develop cancerous tumors of mouth, tongue, thyroid or brain. The woman who burned me had not bothered to use a neck/thyroid shield. After reporting the injuries to Dr.Dvarskas, I requested my records and the nearly 50 x-rays taken in order to receive follow-up treatment. After 18-months of refusing to provide me with any of my records or any information regarding conditions leading up to the injuries, I finally told him I would get the police involved. He then sent worthless xerox-copies of fewer than half of my x-rays, followed after my objection by only 20 low-quality e-mailed prints. Neither he nor the mean-spirited hygienist would discuss the injuries with me or help me find appropriate treatment.
In conclusion, after having had so much time to think about this, I felt it necessary to finally write this review and post to a few websites, hoping to save other senior citizens the daily pain and anxiety I have experienced. Saying that there is an ethical problem would fail to convey the seriousness of the matter. If you are a local resident, you will likely be treated well and be given the loud, friendly chat others find so pleasing in him. But for me, this dentist Dvarskas is the most uncaring and immoral medical provider with whom I've had any dealings in over thirty years. If you are not from the area, are old or have no family support, please find another dentist.
