It pains me to write this review as that I went to school with David Odonnell and have know him for many years. Myself, my husband, and four children have been patients of his for 17 years and I have referred countless people to him. In September I went in for routine cleaning. I was having zero problems. The hygienists told me I had a crack in my lower molar. She put it up on the TV screen and had David come in. He told me I needed a crown. I have never had anything other than a filling and have a great fear of dental procedures, so I was very reluctant to have this done. David told me I must have it done or the tooth would continue to crack down to the root and I would lose my tooth! He told me it was no big deal, a routine procedure, no worst than a filling. Matter-a-fact, he was annoyed at my fear and questions. Not once did he tell me anything could go wrong. I signed no consent forms nor was I given any literature. The following week I had the first part of the crown process done. As soon as the numbness wore off I was in the worst pain of my life. I called immediately the next day. I was told the pain would go away after the permanent crown was put on. I suffered so bad that week. Could not eat or sleep ! The next week he put the permanent crown on, which was excruciating. The pain did not go away. I called almost daily. Went in countless times for a bite adjustment. David began dodging me in his office. Would not return my phone calls. Would tell his staff to give me messages that he would later deny giving. After several months of nonstop pain. Brandy told me he wanted me to go to Bluegrass Endodontist that he did not know what was wrong. I did so and had a root canal. The root canal made it better, but only slightly. I suffered again several more months. It ruined my 50th birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The Endodontist sent me back to David as that the root canal was all she could do, and feared the tooth had been damaged beyond repair. I go back to David very upset because the tooth was NOT even bothering me before he did the crown. He then says he never told Brandy to send me there!!! Seriously!! He tells me he will call the Endodontist and get a game plan in action and call me tomorrow. To this day I still have not heard from him. I called countless times even wrote a letter. All ignored. I wound up having a second root canal and then oral surgery to remove the tooth. All this costing me thousands! Now I'm looking at thousands to have an implant. David used to be a decent person and a good dentist. I guess he has gotten to big and to much money and has forgotten the people who got him there. Needless to say, our entire family left his practice. I am filing a complaint with the BBB and have an appointment with an attorney next week to see if I have a malpractice lawsuit.
