I got braces done in 2006. I was 17 and I was congenitally missing my upper lateral incisors (the ones on each side of the middle front teeth)...Everything went pretty much as planned until I got my braces off in January 2009. My second molar on my lower right side was just then cutting through the gum, and the tooth was on my pre and post xray. Yes, that is a 12-year molar comming in at age 20, I get it. But even though he knew it was there he still took off my braces and now my teeth are straight but that one molar and it screws up my bite. I wear my retainers every night and have been ever since I got my braces off but when my lower retainer was made it did not include that second molar, so after it came in all the way I went to his office to see if I could do something to straighten it up. His only solution was to make another lower retainer to keep it from moving. He did it without charging me anything which was good, but I can't even wear the darn thing because it hurts so bad from not being in alignment so I continue to wear my first one. My only complaint about him is that I feel like he completely ignored that tooth and if there was a reason for it I wasn't informed. At least my front teeth look great :)
