I was one of Dr. Sweeney's first patients, when he opened his first practice near the University of Texas, and even when he was young and new, he was the best dentist who has ever peered into my mouth. Back in 1982, he replaced a crown on one of my molars. He recommended some of the new porcelain materials that were then state-of-the-art. I'm happy to say that the crown lasted over twenty years, until I chipped it somehow. I think it cost me $250 at the time. Money well spent! He also did some resin bonding to my front incisors, with excellent cosmetic results. The bonding lasted for many, many years before eventually yellowing (which he said would happen). After I moved from Austin, another dentist replaced the bonding with porcelain laminates, which have been beautiful, but which have not been nearly so durable as the work Dr. Sweeney did for me. I wish I were still an Austin resident, because he is one of the professionals I dearly miss. And by the way, other dentists have spoken highly of the work he did on my mouth. Highly recommended!
