To my knowledge, Dr. Fischer is a general dentist, not a pediatric dentist. From my and my teenage son's first visit, I had the sense that all he wanted was my money and I just didn't trust him. My son has been to a pediatric dentist every 6 months for his whole life and never had a cavity. On his first checkup with Dr. Fischer, he was told he had *13* cavities and received an outline of a treatment plan that would cost thousands of dollars. Skeptical, I called his former dentist who said it was highly unlikely to suddenly develop 13 cavities in 6 months, especially after having never had a single one.
During my own checkup, Dr. Fischer suggested that I consider getting braces. When I told him the expense of braces prevented me from getting them, he replied, "They're not THAT expensive." In my opinion, he was insulting and condescending. What does he know about my financial situation, and what's "expensive" for me, a single mom?
He didn't earn my trust and I'm back in my search for a new dentist.
