I would recommend Dr. Pontikas for anyone needing periodontal work. The gum over my left canine tooth had receded to the point where my dentist suggested I go to a specialist. I was nervous about going, but after meeting with Dr. Pontikas, my fears were relieved. He has a very calming demeanor and explained everything in a way that put me at ease.
The surgery went smoothly and quickly. I don't think the procedure took more than a half an hour. There was very little pain over the next few days. He had told me that the roof of my mouth would feel as if I had a pizza burn. That was a pretty good description, although it wasn't even that bad.
As for cost, I have no idea what other periodontist charge. I wasn't shocked by the cost, nor was I elated. I didn't really care. I had a good experience and now have full coverage over that tooth.
If I need more periodontal work in the future, I'll definitely go back to Dr. Pontikas. And he tells me if I don't start flossing, I might need it!

Dr. Pontikas is wonderful! He is gentle, caring, and very concerned about his patients. I recommend him without hesitation!
