We had originally seen another Dentist and Hygienist that could not complete a cleaning on my husband. They were scheduled to complete laser gum therapy at a cost of over $700 after insurance. They then recommended open flap gum surgery. After seeing Dr. Spillman, he recommended a deep gum cleaning and anitbiotics. It was 1/4 the cost and a huge success. I'm so thankful we found his practice.

About Hygienist: Both hygienists were great. Very complete and good home care instructions and supplies.

Treatment was to close a pocket in my gums using laser and cost over $900. Dr. Spillman treated the same area 5 years ago without laser and the condition returned, so this time I hope it will be successful. I highly recommend anyone seeking treatment to get a preauthorization from your insurance carrier. My out of pocket cost came in double the proposal amount. When I questioned it with the office, the office refused to offer any concession. This amount of under $300 is now in small claims court, and Dr. Spillman subsequently put it into collections and onto my credit rather than accept a settlement of half of the disputed amount or to wait for the court's ruling/judgment. Dr. Spillman was very friendly and sociable in the office, but turned quite the opposite during this process. Please be careful if you use this provider.

Very bad experience. Dr. treats you and talks to you as if you were 4 years old and unable to comprehend anything-with 'baby talk'...very degrading. Post op infection and he refused to admit it until 4 days later. Would not address pain control. Paid for 1 hour of nitrous only to have it administered for 10 minutes of a 45+ minute procedure (tank was empty). Was left with critical hypersensitivity following surgery still, after a year post-op.

I had origianally gone to a woman periodontist in Cherry Creek. She basically told me I'd be coming to see her every other week for the rest of my life for follow up. I never went back. I went to Dr. Spillman, and was completely impressed. I had my extensive work done, with the least amount of discomfort I could have imagined. He and his entire staff are professional, kind and caring. I wouldn't go to anyone else. I highly reccomend Dr. Spillman and his staff. It's been a few years, and I have had no problems at all. I rotate going to him and to my regular dentist for routine checkups.

I was referred to Dr. Spillman in 2003. The actual periodontal procedure I had done was not painful as the area was sufficiently anesitized during the procedure. Dr. Spillman carefully explained the procedure and the work was done expeditiously. Facilities are adequate and office staff was courteous. The problem that I had was the follow up care was insensitive and painful. I had much more pain than anticipated and Dr. Spillman declined to authorize additional pain medication to reduce the pain level. Because of the poor patient after-care, I wouldn't recommend this periodontist to anyone with elevated pain sensitivity.
