Dr. Baker is a very good Dentist. As far as his work is concerned, I'd rate him A#1. My problem with him is that I am a cash paying customer and he always - and I mean always - understates the cost before a treatment by about 50%.
I had a root canal and asked him what the full cost of the procedure - everything - would be. He told me around $800.00, the alternative would have been pulling the tooth I suppose. Turns out that was what he charged for the root canal. Unfortunately, he didn't include the cost of the crown...that was another $800.00. Now when a patient asks the full cost of the root canal, the patient (not having a degree in dentistry) assumes that includes the crown. He did the same thing on my daughter's root canal. Kind of sneaky, but let's face it, it's not cheap to live in Newport Beach.
In the past few years I've paid this guy a lot of money to have a lot of work done, but I really just got to the point where I had to quit seeing him and instead seek another dentist. I just can't tolerate misleading sales pitches by a dentist. I really should have left years ago, but he bought out my childhood dentist's practice so in some stupid way I felt loyal to his practice. No more. I'm gone.
