Dr Chen has done orthodontic treatment for our two daughters (now ages 14 and 15). Our elder daughter had crooked teeth both upper and lower but they are now perfect after treatment with a retainer and braces. Our younger daughter similar problems and treatment, which is almost complete, and her teeth are looking much better too. Front office staff were friendly and efficient, and flexible about payments to best accomodate our insurance and needs.
Dr Chen and his assistants are gentle and kind, but also efficient. The premises are charming, a converted house.
We would return without hesitation (well, we already did, for our younger daughter's treatment!).

I researched several orthodontists in the San Mateo area and chose Dr. Chen because he's about doing what's right and reasonable, not about making money off you. He explained everything about the process and reasons behind it for me (He is also an associate professor at UCSF), he is very kind and great with patients, he listens to his patients, and he was able to fix my teeth at a reasonable price. Other orthodontists wanted to do surgery, have me wear head braces, etc. Dr. Chen accomplished it without all that. I highly, highly recommend him.
