Dr. Bic Chiem and Victoria made me feel so comfortable and relaxed in the Dentist chair. Due to a traumatic incident as a kid, I had to get a root canal and it scarred my experience with dentists forever. Thankfully, doc is extremely good at what she does. She's brilliant, caring and communicative. In fact, now that I think about it, I've had far better experiences with women dentists. In my experience, they've been super sympathetic to those who are more sensitive. I went to Dr. Chiem for a crown replacement. The entire procedure went very smoothly. I sat in the chair for hours as Dr. Chiem worked on removing my current crown and shaving down the inner tooth to fit a new crown. They have a great lab with a great color matcher to ensure your tooth looks as realistic as possible against your existing teeth. It was painless. It was easy. I am very pleased with my experience and I cannot recommend Dr. Chiem enough. Go SF ladies!

When I first came to Dr. Chiem, I was a mess. I was going to the UOP Dental School for my dental care (due to my financial issues) and I felt like I was in worse condition after I saw them. To keep the story short, the dental student left me in a temporary bridge that kept falling off and told me that there's nothing she can do to help me. So when the temporary bridge came off on a day that I had an important interview, I was freaking out. I had no extra money for dental care but had to get this fix. I walked into 450 Sutter, and asked the elevator attendant, who's the best dentist in the building? He recommended me to Dr. Chiem. Dr. Chiem listened attentively. She took an x-ray, evaluated the situation, and gave me her honest opinion. She told me she can give me a quick fix for the day but that I needed to seek permanent treatment for this area. She recemented the bridge for me and told me to go get that job, which translated to her not charging me for her time and work. I was so touched with her kindness and compassion, I think I cried that day. I finally found a dentist who actually has a heart! Since then, Dr. Chiem continues to impress me. No one else compares in knowledge, clinical skills, or chairside manners!

I have white spots (fluorosis ?) on my two front teeth. It's something that has been bothering me since my teens. After a handful of consultations with cosmetic dentists in the bay area, I was convinced that veneers are my only option. After speaking to Dr. Chiem, she gave me three options, discussed pros and cons, and pretty much told me that I have a great smile and beautiful teeth. These are her words, " I would hate to put veneers on you. In fact, it would pain me to shave away healthy enamel." I opted for the more conservative and cost friendly procedure. Instead of drilling the whole front of my tooth, she shaved away only the fluorosis very slightly and bonded to it. The results are EXACTLY what I wanted! It looked so natural. I can't even tell that there are fillings on my two front teeth. The color and texture is PERFECT! I am so happy I held out for the right dentist. Dr. Chiem is the BEST!!! She really watches out for your best interest!

I had a crown done by another dentist and had excruciating pain after. I went back to the same dentist THREE times to evaluate and each time, he shaved off more and more of my new crown. Hmmm... The worst part aside from messing up my new crown is that the pain still persists! I decided to get a second opinion from Dr. Chiem. From the first phone call to scheduling the appointment to the day off, George, the office manager made it a breeze. After Dr. Chiem listened to my complaints and performed some tests, she determined that my bite is high and explained that she have to remove the high spot. I learned that it's the spot I hit first when I bring my teeth together. Instead of grinding everywhere like the other dentist, she seemed to know EXACTLY where it is, shaved only that spot, and polished. After she did that, I'm seriously NOT kidding, the pain and cold sensitivity completely dissipated!! I am a FOLLOWER for life!!! She gave me the ability to eat again! She knows her stuff, she listens, and genuinely cares. Dr. Chiem has what I call, "The Human Touch"!

I came in with a badly infected tooth and a tooth that required a root canal. Unfortunately, I had put off seeing a dentist until it hurt so badly that I had no choice. She was extremely thorough, analyzed the situation, prescribed some antibiotics to start dealing with the infection, had her staff set me up with a dental surgeon to get the tooth out two days later and for a root canal the following week. She later fitted me for a space holder in a follow up appt. She and her staff were wonderful and left me wondering WHY I had put off dealing with this painful situation for so long.

Having become dissatisfied and frustrated with the rushed and impersonal care that has become the status quo in todays medical and dental offices, I went in search of a higher standard. When I arrived at the office of Doctor Chiem, I knew I had found it. During the consultation, I found all of my many questions answered and a clear path presented to me for improving my somewhat poor dental health. It was necessary for me to be seen by both a Periodontist and an Endodontist. This process was orchestrated swiftly and efficiently by George, the genuinely amiable office coordinator. In both cases, the doctors I was referred to were of the highest quality in their attention to my problems, and their approach to solutions. Since then I have had two fillings replaced by Dr Chiem. From a practical point of view, the process was painless and I have had no problems with the fillings. From an aesthetic point of view, the work is flawless, and nearly indistinguishable in appearance from a perfect tooth. Add to all of this Dr Chiems affable personality and great sense of humor, and you have a dentist, and a dental office that rises well above the rest.

Dr. Chiem is very pleasant yet professional. She performed a delicate procedure involving a filling on a wisdom tooth with great skill. It was very close to the nerve with little margin for error. I am happy to report that I have had no symptoms since and am very pleased with the result which saved this tooth.
