My husband and I have gone to Dr Wintermantel for around 30 years. We have had cleanings, fillings, root canals, a bridge. We've always been completely satisfied with his work. He is very thorough, and answers all questions completely. I would never think of changing dentists. My only worry is when he retires, what will I do?!

About Front Desk: Very friendly, the entire staff gets along very well. Girls, we went to El Indio.

quality of dentistry has significantly declined over the years. Procedures that could have/should have been prevented were not. Sent to an oral surgeon without them checking to see if in my plan.. Had to pay out of pocket. Was misdiagnosed and procedure delayed because of misdiagnosis. Other family members experiencing pain after filling and appears that the doctor is more concerned about how much out of pocket money you can spend on expensive dental care.

About Front Desk: slow.. waiting for over 2 months for them to send records.

I went to have a cleaning in June & Dr. Wintermantel said I had no cavities and my teeth looked great. When I returned in October he said I had 3 & would need to return to have them filled. I have never been afraid of the dentist so it was no problem. When I went to have them filled-the total time spent there was 3 HRS-FOR 1 CAVITY. It was 1 of the most horrible experiences I've had. It took him 6 tries and 30 min just to get the band to fit between my teeth. I left in tears. I love the staff so much that I returned 2 wks later to give him a second chance to do the other 2. He numbed me, THEN looked at my xrays and said the decay on my tooth was so deep, I would have to go see a root canal specialist. I asked him why this didn't show up at my last cleaning in June?? He ignored my question while fumbling with some papers & walked away. I saw my xrays from June clearly showing I had cavities that could have been fixed with a simple filling. Now due to Dr Wintermantel's complete lack of knowledge for what I would consider basic dentistry-identifying cavities- I will be enduring an expensive root canal. I wouldn't recommend this dentist to my worst enemy!

About Hygienist: I however have always loved my hygienist, Toni. I will miss her.

Dr Dan is always professional and friendly. He has cared for my family's needs for at least 20 years. Always with great results. I recommend him to anyone who asks. He and his staff are always gentle and considerate of any apprehension I may have. Always takes time to listen and consider.

I went to Dr. Wintermantel because he was one of the few dentists on my plan. I read some bad reviews online, but ignored them. Big mistake. I had a cavity filled; the tooth was sore for 2 months and then the filling fell out. Turns out, he didn't put it in correctly in the first place. Now I'm paying out of pocket to have it fixed. Would have saved me time and pain to just go outside my plan in the first place. Additionally, his techs did not wash their hands when between touching tools and common objects. All equipment was very low grade.

I went to Dr. Wintermantel when he was about the only decent choice on my very limited dental insurance. Here are my main complaints: 1. Too many people scheduled at once so he bounced from chair to chair, but I was hooked up to nitrous oxide thewhole time so who cared? 2. Too many visits to do a procedure. first visit to look at the need for a crown, 2nd visit to prep the crown, 3rd visit to fit the crown, 4th visit to put the crown on. Not sure why it couldn't be handled in 2 visits... 3. The crowns looked terrible. One (eye tooth) was so big it actually chipped the bottom tooth because the bite was wrong. And it looked fake. 4. LOOOONG waiting time. On three separate occasions I had to wait over 45 minutes to be placed into the chair, where I was strapped to the nitrous mask for another 30 minutes before I even saw him. Why the nitrous? I love the stuff, but really - I wasn't in pain.

About Hygienist: Great hygienists - very friendly staff.

Dr. Wintermantel is a quantity dentist not a quality dentist. Whenever I go to his office there are always at least 2 or 3 others with the same appointment time as mine. He ALWAYS puts off work for another date because he "just doesn't have enough time." Today I came back to finish up work he put off and his receptionists had not entered the appointment given to me into his system. Three others had the same problem in the office. He did not finish all of the work, instead he told me to come back in December to finish my other cavity. It is terrible that this man is in business still, and it's a shame that he's the only Dentist in the area that our dental plan has full coverage on. If you can avoid going to him please do so. A simple appointment turns into 2-4 hours rapidly at his office. But if you HAVE to go to him make sure all of your appointments are first thing in the morning it's the only chance that your appointment will not turn into an all day affair.

About Hygienist: The only reason I go back are for the Hygienists and Assistants. It's a shame they have to work at such a terrible practice.
