Dr. Leslie Johnson was the first dentist we've seen at Pleasant Valley Dental, but now there are 2 new dentists and we're happy with both - our whole family, 2 parents and 2 children (ages 9 and 6) are seen and it's been successful and pleasant for everyone. When my younger son chipped his tooth on a Sunday, we were able to speak with one dentist within an hour and saw him the very next morning.

I highly recommend Dr. Johnson & his staff for any one with dentist phobias. I'm able to get my boyfriend and a few others to go see their dentist regularly. Me? Well, it always takes a bunch of novocaine to work on me, and I don't care if I'm drooling for hours afterwards--i have horrible dental genetics, so I figure, as long as I can't feel it, they can have at it! And they're very patient about that, as long as it takes to make me comfortable. The desk people are sweethearts! He seems to be a popular place for new dentists to get their start, so you can have a choice of brand new state of the art dentistry or OG style dentistry! Too bad they won't do my 2nd time around root canal, which is why I'm on this site!

The faulty teeth cleaning equipment on my first vist to Dr Johnson's office squirted water down my neck and the back of my shirt. The dental tech tried to stanch the flow of water by pulling the dental bib up around my neck as she worked. My second visit, another dental tech kept jarring the suction tube against my lower right inside teeth. Three days later I spit out what was left of one of my lower right teeth, where the suction tube had been. Dr. Johnson prepared the remainder of the tooth for a crown, installed a temporary crown, and sent me away with some pain pills, saying it "might hurt for a while." I returned to his office in three weeks, telling him that I had been in terrible pain the entire time. He removed the crown, filed it down, filed down my other nearby teeth (!) replaced the crown and told me to come back in 10 days. When I returned, still in pain, he said "We might have to do a root canal. Did we talk about that?" He had never mentioned it. I went to a dental surgeon to have the root canal done and returned to Dr. Johnson to have the permanent crown installed. I paid over $2500 for all of this. On top of that, the bills from his office are impossible to decipher.

Dr. Leslie Johnson's office is a pleasant location with a friendly staff. My only complaint is that the office routinely proceeds to perform peridontal irrigation on patients without informing them it is not covered by insurance (for good reason - it has limited potential for prevention of gum disease). This leads to a $20 surprise charge upon leaving. Check with their staff to ensure they are performing procedures covered by your insurance only.

Have all work preauthorized with your insurance and double check all bills - I had terrible billing problems with this office - billed for work I didn't have and problems getting bills for work sent through my insurance. Don't pay up front - have your insurance pay first.
