Our Family (my wife, myself and our 3 children-now, their spouses as well) have been seeing Dr. Thom Uelk since 1980.
He always has New Certifications for the Latest in Dental Professional Procedures. From cleanings to cavities to caps (and root canals when necessary :(!! ), Dr. Uelk has always taken care of our Dental needs.
Our kids loved him when they were growing up because of his calm presence...and corny jokes!

For many years I've had a tooth bonded to the one next to it. Every 6 months ( or whenever I bit into something hard ) the tooth would fall out. I'm not a fan of going to the dentist so I have been putting off a permanent solution for years. I asked my co-worker who she goes to and its Dr Uelk.
Everyone in the office is great, very welcoming. When I first met Dr. Uelk he opened with a joke!! That made me feel much better. My teeth were a mess, over bites, under bites, teeth going in every direction, but after careful review he came up with a good course of action. The process would take almost a year of orthodontic work to align my teeth, along with a bridge, replacment of many metal fillings, cleaning, whitening and odds and ends. There was even a time I was going every week for months, but enjoyed my visits. He even agreed to see me on a Sunday when I was in terrible pain.
My teeth look great and I couldn't be happier. When you talk to him you realize he has a passion for his work and it really comes through. Highly Recomended!!!!!

I would highly recommend Dr. Uelk as one of the best dentists in the area. He is kind, caring, considerate, professional and gifted in his field. Over the years, any treatment I have had was successful, painless and very reasonable. His chair side manner is calm and professional. His office staff is exemplary - warm and welcoming. His office manager is outstanding - very knowledgeable and helpful with insurance. Dr. Uelk's years of experience and love of dentistry show in the exceptional work he does for his patients.

Dr. Uelk has replaced all my old fillings, put on 2 amazing crowns and fitted me with a TAP III for my snoring. What a difference this has made in my life! Thank you!
His chair side manner makes you relax - he is a very funny guy - has some really good jokes to tell.
His office is conveniently located and very clean. Appointments are always on time and Alice is very friendly.
I have found Dr. Uelk to be very professional, knowledgable and he does excellent work. He is one of the best dentists I've ever had and I highly recommend him to anyone who needs a new dentist. I think he is the BEST!
About Hygienist: Jim, the dental hygienist has been with this office for a long time. He is very thorough and does a great job cleaning your teeth. Mine have never felt so clean!

Dr. Uelk's services and expertise are comprehensive from annual check-ups to implants. I had the usual filings and replacement of old metal filings as well as a complex bridge that required a lot of expertise. Dr. Uelk's manner is very professional, but he manages to combine this with being friendly and calming.

Dr. Uelk is a tremendous dentist who cares a great deal about his patients. One of the ways he takes the pressure off the situation is by telling jokes that are so bad that you just have to smile and then he's got you! Really, if you need a good dentist, see Dr Uelk

I have seen Dr Uelk for both replacing a filling and for repairing a chip to my front tooth. I also use his office for having my teeth cleaned semi-annually. The office staff is first rate, as is the hygenist who works there. Dr Uelk is extremely pleasant and takes the time and effor to provide what he considers to be best treatment for your dental needs. My only complaint is that I had to have two follow-up procedures on the tooth chip repair; one to smooth it out, and one to replace it, as it broke within 2 months of the original repair. In both cases, Dr Uelk waived all charges for the time to do these repairs. I would happily recommend him to anyone who is looking for a general dentist in the San Rafael area

Dr Uelk, although seemingly knowledgable in his field lacks necessary gentleness and finess. He scraped my gums and inner lip many times while cleaning and his hand seemed to shake a bit during the process. There was no one there to suction so he stuck the suction pipe independently in my mouth where it sharply jabbed at my already swollen gums and did not work correctly while my mouth uncomfortable filled over with blood and drool. My paper bib was covered in driplets of blood! The whole experience was dreadful and painful. I left feeling completely drained and in misery. Although he seems like a very nice and personable character, the experience was terrible for me.
About Hygienist: The last thing I'll say that really disappointed me was that he seemed to be more concerned with how much money he could get from my insurance, asking his receptionist, "How much will the insurance pay for this procedure?" or "What about this procedure?'" in front of me. It seems as if the main concern was to diagnose me with the most severe issue so the insurance would pay more!

A very professional dentsit who expresses care and concern for his patients. Clearly enjoys his work which is a big plus. I've had and extraction, and fillings. Everything went well, and he called me at home to see how I was recovering.
Highly recommended!
