If you are in the Gwinnett area, I highly recommned Dr. Stephen Carter or his son Dr. Scott Carter. Their staff is very friendly and concerned about their patients. The patient comes first. This was my first visit with Dr. Carter and I left there feeling good knowing I had a great dentist!

Absolutely the best, most dedicated, skilled, knowledgeable, professional dentist anywhere !!!
I have an abnormally high decay rate. Over the past 30 years, he has peformed crowns ( on every tooth), root canals ( on every tooth), posts on many teeth, etc.
He insists on using the best lab for making the crowns to ensure a perfect fit. I think he has been using the same lab for over 20 years.
Although I don't have dental insurance, Dr. Carter is so good, I don't comparison shop, so I don't know if his rates are higher than average. But if he is, it is well worth it ( cheaper in the long run). He has done well over 100k of dental work on me. My parents & sister have been his patients for over 30 years as well. My children, neice & nephews have been also use him exclusively. We all drive approx. 40 miles round trip per visit. In fact....
for over 30 years, I have told Dr. Carter that if I was transferred to Seattle, he would still be my dentist !
About Hygienist: All are superp, personable & skilled !

Buyer Beware: Only accepts Delta Dental Insurance but does not disclose this information when you register as a new patient. My family saw him five times before we found out he was not a preferred provider. (The receptionist's husband has the same dental insurance, so we didn't think to check. Of course, we should have confirmed this.) I thought Dr. Carter was very nice and professional, that was until I spoke with him about my very large bill for a root canal and replacement of a 23 yr old crown. What cost my husband $750 for the same procedure with our now retired dentist, cost me $1500! Dr. Carter refused to negotiate as "He refuses to have insurance companies define what he charges." Therefore, the cost is passed on to the patient. I will pay my bill but will NEVER return to Dr. Carter's office. There are plenty of other dentists in the area that realize patient care goes beyond teeth.

Dr. Carter has been handling my dental needs for about 16years. I got married and my husband started using him and will travel where ever Dr. Carter goes. We now have 3 kids and Dr. Carter has been wonderful with them. They love going to the dentist. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a gentle, kind, knowledgable dentist. The facility is clean also.
About Hygienist: Love the hygienist, they really make you comfortable and relaxed while doing the cleaning.

I have been going to Dr. Carter since 1973. I also took my children to him beginning then. The only one of my children in the Atlanta area still sees him twice a year. Dr. Carter is caring and concerned about your dental health. He will see you anytime you have a problem, nights or weekends. When I first began seeing Dr. Carter his office was only 5 miles from me. Through the years he has moved further east and I have moved further west. I now travel 140 miles round trip to see him twice a year. Dr. Carter and his staff are like a part of my family.

Dr. Carter is a GEM of a dentist. He is professional, thorough, caring, and kind; personally calls to check on me after fillings, crowns or any type of work; always asks about my family and knows their names. His staff is friendly, helpful and competent. He is the only dentist I have seen since he began caring for my family 40 years ago. I highly recommend him.

Outstanding expertise (holds a number of patents). Staff is very capable. The only negative is he participates in very few dental plans. You should check if you're covered before an appointment.

I have been seeing Dr. Carter since childhood (I'm 40) - despite his moves and mine through the years, I have continued to drive to see him rather than getting someone closer (I am now in Cumming and he is in Snellville). I cannot imagine for a moment seeing someone else - he has always given me the best advice - including recommending waiting on procedures that friends told me should be done - he said the issue might resolve itself - and it did! (my son's teeth straightened on their own and he did not need braces after all). Going to see Dr. Carter makes me feel like I live in a small town, because each time I'm there it's like I just saw them all yesterday!
About Hygienist: All the hygenists are just as thorough and friendly as Dr. Carter - they remember everything about you and ask after things you mentioned at the last visit - my mouth feels so great after going and I never have to worry about being uncomfortable in any way.

In my opinion, no other dentist compares. With 40 years experience under his belt, each procedure is done with precision and detail. I think Dr. Carter is the best. The whole staff is excellent.

My family have been patients of Dr. Carter for decades. My grandparents moved to South Georgia over 20 years ago and have continued to make the trip because they like and respect Dr. Carter so much. He was the first dentist I ever saw as a child and I can still remember how comfortable he made me feel. He would tell me "Now, open big like a tiger!"
