Dr. Alder gave me two fillings. I agreed to these fillings but it was never discussed before or during the procedure that one of the fillings would be so large that he would have to place it right on the nerve; this resulted in a very painful experience and a root canal and now a crown. Th endodontist who performed the root canal was also surprised that the dentist would not have informed me at the time of the procedure that I would have needed a root canal; as the filling was aparently right on the nerve; the second filling that Dr. Alder placed partially fell out about 7 weeks after placement Needless to say Dr. Alder has done none of the repair work.

I do not understand why a dentist wants to inject my face with botox. Do dentists have training for this?

I had a swelling on my tongue and cheek. I have chewed tobacco for years while i tend bar. Dr. Alder said he has special training in cancer treatment , and wanted to to remove the tumor and treat the area next to it with lasers to kill extra cells. This sounded good, but my wife made me go to another doc who took a beopsy. The diagnosis was o.k. and I did not need expensive laser treatments.

I had an infection around my gum and Dr. Alder wanted to use a laser to treat this. I found this to be quite ridiculous. After visting two other periodontists, dental specialists, with ADA accredited , advanced training, I was educated and learned that this sort of suggested treatment is without any scientific basis. I needed gum surgery not expensive lights shone over my mouth. I can't believe this guy is for real. I am glad i went with a gum specialist. Dr. Alder needs to stop selling the snake oil and get with accepted methods of treatment.

Dr. Alder is a general dentist who masquerades as a dental specialist. He advertises himself as "highly skilled," in specialty areas that do NOT EVEN EXIST in the state of Illinois. He has a casual disregard for patient safety and performs many procedures without any formal training or credentials. Have you EVER HEARD of a general dentist performing bone grafts from the hip or doing Botox .........with only so much as a correspondence course for training. He is a complete hazard to the public safety of Illinois.
