After confirming insurance coverage, my husband saw Dr. Lucas approximately 6 months ago for a routine exam and cleaning. He was very impressed, however there was a problem with the insurance. Because the insurance was taking so long to pay (even after lengthy time spent on the phone and correspondence, both by us and his office), we went ahead and paid ourselves. We are now awaiting our portion of the payment from the insurance company. My husband is now scheduled for cancer surgery so I called to re-schedule his upcoming appointment and to make appointments for the rest of the family (as we did not want to complicate things more until the insurance was straightened out), only to be told we would not be seen unless we pay in advance. Dr. Lucas has chosen to participate with this insurance company of his own free will, so I really do not understand requiring payment in advance. If he has a problem with this insurance company, then he should choose not to participate instead of penalizing his patients. I am currently in the process of letting the insurance company know of this practice. This whole experience has been very disturbing to us. I would advise you to be extremely careful when dealing with this office.

I have been to Dr. Lucas for the past 3 years. He was recommended to me and I am so glad. I called him because I needed to see someone ASAP for my wisdom teeth coming in. I told him how much pain I was in and he referred me to the Surgeon office (had to have a referral for insurance). He was ALWAYS on time and I was never in his office more than 30 minutes for a cleaning.
About Hygienist: No hygienist..Dr. Lucas does the work! Very personable.

I have always had courteous and professional service from Dr. Lucas. I am very pleased with his work and his response time.

Great family dentist. Good consultation and followup advise. Nearly painless experience for even the most difficult procedures. Doesn't do alot of unnecessary work. Gets you in and out quickly.

Dr. Lucas is an excellent dentist, does great work. Has been our family dentist for years. Works with all insurance.

Dr. Lucas is old school....no dental hygienests in office, cleaning is done by himself, which to me is respectable. Only one other office assistant. He's talkative, friendly, and knowledgeable.

This is unlike most big-city offices. Dentist himself does all work, including cleanings. Office staff consists of one person, a family member, who does all scheduling, billing, etc.
