I was young and had limited time home from college--- my regular dentist was sick, so I booked an appointment with Dr. Samuel Tencer. He told me that I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed right away. Without taking any x-rays, he booked me for wisdom teeth removal that same week. For years I have been suffering from a painful gum infection. What's the worst part? My regular dentist informed me that there was never any good reason to remove my wisdom teeth. Please do yourself a favor and see a different dentist. Even though he may seem like a cheaper option, you will pay for it in the long run.

As a cancer patient, Dr Tencer has always been sensitive about that and especially that anesthesia is not always easy for me causing breathing spasms...but in the way he does it, I don't have those problems; besides being an excellent dentist he is a caring person and has a wonderful chair side manner. His dental assistants are thoroughly professional and seem to work very well together with him and each other...it is rare to go there and find new assistants...so I guess they are happy there. That's a good sign. Hygenists are probably good clinicians, but tend to have a bit of an attitude I can't quite peg, but they don't stopy talking. The front desk is another matter...alot of changes quite often it seems. Although I often find the cost a bit overwhelming, I don't think its out of range in the field..and, I have never had a situation where I couldn't work out a payment schedule with Dr. Tencer and always pay the full amount. The basement office is devoid of light, which for the short period of time I am there is manageable for me, but the lack of light and the tiny space that three or more people work in at the front desk, has to be frustrating at times, and drag on those who work there......

Great Dentist - I would never go elsewhere. Basement office a bit stuffy, but his dental assistants are very good and nice as well, Hygienists clinically OK, Dr. Sam has the best chair-side manners; concerned for the whole person - so for example since I am a cancer survivor, he always wants to know what''s up there, great pain control, never rushed, explains options and answers questions until you get it...will make suggestions but will honor your decision. If money is a problem, he is always able to make it work for you and for him. I'd never go anywhere else in the Boston area. Maureen Kelly
