Dr. Liu was my dentist at the Family Dental Center in Malden for about four years. He left in April 2006, and I'm very disappointed he is gone. He was friendly, and extremely diligent with cleanings and fillings. He explained all work in a careful and polite manner. Questions were always answered thoroughly.
The center has recently installed a few new cabinets in the treatment rooms, and replaced some water damaged ceiling tiles. The environment of the front desk, waiting room and general appearance of the building is a cold and bare, even though it is located in a converted house. The equipment is not modern like some of the other facilities I've read about, but definitely not obsolete.
The front desk are friendly, but not very competent or knowledgeable. They know the cost of procedures according to what dental insurance you have, but seriously lacks the skills needed to book appointments in an efficient manner. Expect to wait 3-4 months to be seen, unless you're in serious pain or called that week for cancellations.
*Since Dr. Liu's departure, I've experienced nasty horrors, and I will not be returning to this office. I have since found a new dentist at another office and hope that he will be just as good as Dr. Liu.

Actually I was Liu's patient when he was a student at Temple dental school. I was very satisfied with his skill and service. I have to say he is better than some practice dentists even when he was a student.
He did root canal and crown for me. It saved me a lot of money to receive treatment at dental school.
