I've been swindled twice in my life. Unfortunately, one of those times was by someone you're supposed to trust. I should have noticed the red flag: that Miner's patients were required to pay in-full following the appointment, and it was up to the patients to get reimbursed by their dental insurance. But alas, when I lived in Nantucket, I was naive and in my mid-twenties.
Miner charged an exorbitant amount for a simple exam and cleaning, tacking on extra charges with silly names to hike up the amount of money he would pocket. In the end, it cost me around $500. Mind you, this was WITH insurance. And again, I stress that this was just an exam and cleaning; no fancy work such as whitening, a root canal, etc.
After this terrible ordeal, one of my then-coworkers told me that Miner had a reputation for being a rip-off. Do yourself a favor and find any other dentist where you pay the normal $15-$25 copay upfront, and then dentist works directly with your insurance company. Don't get scammed like I did.
