About Front Desk: The front office is so friendly and knowledgeable about treatment, costs, insurance. I could not ask for anything more from my dental office.
About Hygienist: All the hygienists I have seen have been gentle and thorough..

I have been coming here since 1989, and have had excellent care. My whole family are now patients. I highly recommend this practice.

All the staff at The Center for Advanced Dental Care greet you when you arrive and treat you with respect and kindness. The care provided is thorough, and they always look carefully at all options before immediately deciding on a new procedure.

I have been going to Dr. Kaplan for many years. His office staff is the best anywhere, as are his hygienists and dental assistants. Dr. Kaplan is proactive in treating potential problems, but sometimes I feel the work is not immediately necessary. Overall, excellent dentist, excellent practice.
About Front Desk: Cheryl has been the Office Manager for years, and provides personalized assistance to each patient. The entire staff is great.
About Hygienist: Allison is thorough, does a great job, and is very very nice.

I have had fillings and crown treatment performed by Dr. Kaplan. I also keep up with my dental hygiene visits and all the hygienists are beyond knowledgeable and give excellent care. Sheryl, the manager exceeds any expectations a person has in relationship to helping the patients understand insurance, costs and making them feel comfortable. I do not hesitate to recommend The Center for Advanced Dental Care to anyone.

Dr. Kaplan is very competent, but his chair-side manner is very cold and insensitive. He treats your teeth but not you as a person. When I was anxious and upset and asked him to wait, he left the room for awhile. When he returned he continued to work on my teeth and never asked how I was feeling. I am switching dentists.
His office staff are very warm and friendly women. The hygenists are also warm and friendly, which is why I stuck with his practice for a long time. He even posts a sign bragging about his warm manner, but has never asked me anything about my life, my family, how I am as a person.
About Hygienist: Alison is wonderful, very thorough, personable, clean.

Dr. Kaplan is professional, clean, and knowledgeable. He is up to date on the most recent literature, and was very cordial and professional. He does seem to charge a lot for extraneous charges but in general, is a good dentist at a convenient location in Newton.
About Hygienist: The hygienist in the office is hit or miss.

After seeing Dr. Kaplan for 25 years and having been one of his first patients, I found out today that I could no longer be his patient because "things have become too difficult since I got health insurance." Apparently, I was only qualified to be Dr. Kaplan's patient if I agreed to provide a steady source of revenue on his schedule, irrespective of my benefits or personal choices. I was told that "I was taking too much time" because today I called to discuss a discrepancy between what I was charged last week and what my insurer said I should have been charged. This was my first such call to him. It wasn't a big deal and in any other office it would have been a matter of, "sorry, we'll refund you the $20." But in this case, I was told that "the doctor no longer feels you and he see eye to eye" and "you would be better served elsewhere."
So this is not your dentist if you are looking for someone who is sensitive to the needs of balancing insurance benefits and out of pocket expenses, a front desk that can handle simple matters on its own, or a chair-side manner that is warm and nonjudgmental. He may be very thorough but he decides who is good enough to be his patient based on their pocketbook and obedience to his wishes.

Dr. Kaplan is extremely competent and does not recommend unneccessary procedures. He is thorough and takes the time to answer questions. The hygenists are great (especially Emma).
