Dr Powers is an honest, sincere dentist. He uses state of the art equipment and always seems to have the latest tools for patient comfort. He's the only dentist I've ever gone to that used a computer assisted novacaine administration tool. However, the down side is that esthetically his work isn't the best. I've had chewing gum stick to his fillings, and he didn't do a very good job with my root canal which required extra appts.

I know this doctor: 15 years

I went to Dr. Powers for many years, he's very nice and personable. But the quality of the work seems to be lacking, like the other reviewer said, I've had better, and worse. I have left his pratice because I'm going to have major work done, and I'm looking for quality. If it was just fillings and cleanings I would have stayed. Others have said his price is high, I disagree, the dentist I'm going to now charges much more.

I chose this office because of a yellow pages ad that claimed "Cowards Welcome". Maybe it was just my negative experiences prior to this office, but I very much appreciated their willingness to use topical anesthetics as well as gas for my fear of pain. When i first came for my appointment they had a cute sign displayed welcoming me. That said, I'm not sure they are directly a part of any insurance plans (I've had two major plans in the time going to them), and that makes me wonder why. They do allow you to pay up front and get reimbursed or do a discounted rate off the exam fee, depending on how your insurance works. But they may not be a part of any networks. And I had a sor of expensive procedure done the last time, an you always wonder if they are necessary. One con is that they aren't easily accessible by public transportation (metro), but they are just off the beltway. But overall, I'd say they are great on customer service and pain. I would go back to them if I wasn't on such a tight budget.

I saw Dr. Powers for over 10 years until he dropped out of my insurance plan. He was conservative and conscious of keeping costs down for me as a patient. He never pushed any services or products. I never felt rushed and he provided a CD and headset with a selection of music if he had to drill. I never waited over 5 minutes. His staff was always helpful and courteous. There is another dentist in the office that I only saw once. He did assume I wanted to proceed with dental work that I did not think was necessary. So I made sure I saw Dr. Powers after that. EG

I would rate Dr. Powers as below average. I've had better. I've had a few worse. Mostly I hate how I always feel like he and his staff are constantly trying to sell me something. Also, cost is much too high, considering his practice is in the less affluent side of town.
