I am extremely disappointed with Mr. Kahane's care. I have trusted this dentist for 8 years. I've have been going to him religiously for 8 years with every 6 -12 months visits for dental cleaning and check ups. After 8 years, my insurance changed so my dentist changed as well. I had an emergency tooth infection going into my nasal sinus that could have traveled into my brain (I could of end up in a coma if I had not got immediate care for this infection). (I know because I was a nurse in the ER and ICU for 7-8 years. The new dentist took xrays and showed me that I needed almost half a dozen or more crowns and a lot of internal cavities that were not taken care of by my original dentist, Barry Kahane. I was in distraught. It took me literally 4 years to complete my dental issues & about $10,000+ out of pocket expenses because (dental plan only covers $2,000 max yearly).Prior to this, it was confirmed by 3 other dentists that I do have all these problems and it needed to be taken care of. I trusted Mr. Kahane for 8 years & every visit I asked him if I had any cavities or any issues with my teeth. He told me my teeth are good and he does not see any cavities at all. I do not recommend him at all. He is dangerous to your health. -RN

I've been going to dentist Kahane for 8 years trusting all my dental health with him. Until my job & health insurance changed. Then, I experienced this horrible pain, my face swollened up, & I went to 4 other different dental consults in Manhattan. Xrays were done. I had a large infection that needed major surgery due to a negligence of a simple cavity that took years to grow. I was told by all 4 dentists that I needed 4 root canals, several more fillings, and the work that was already completed on me was not quality work. They felt sorry for me because I was a good patient who floss & brush twice or more daily, did my regular 6 months cleaning with checkups. I trusted this dentist. He did some unfinished work with one of the old crown where instead of replacing it with a new crown, he just put a filling which kept breaking apart. I spent thousands of dollars & the work today is still not complete.I still have a couple thousands to go. It was painful & time consuming. When I use to ask for whitings instead of metals, he ignored my requests! When I told them the suffering I am going through..they just hung up. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! NEGLIGENCE IN TEETH CARE! If you want nice, healthy teeth..DO NOT GO TO dentist Barry A. Kahane! $$$$

Dr. Kahane is a gentle dentist who goes out of his way to take care of his patients. He's very good at dealing with pesky insurance companies or HMOs and he'll work with the patient. I have recommended him to some of the people work with and they like him as well.
