I almost ended up with a serious problem from a routine cavity filling. After filling my cavity I told Dr. Wu my left side was elevated and that I cannot bit down on all my teeth. He said it will take 24 hrs to get used to it. I specifically asked him if "this - the elevated filling - will go down." He said - "yes." I trusted him. (Note: he did not make me bite down on paper to see if my teeth locked properly.) 24 hours later I still couldn't bit down. My left side will bite down first and the teeth on my right side did not even touch! I called his office and with no medical authority the receptionist told me to give it 48 hrs and that I will get used it. Although polite, she was in no position to tell me to "get used to it.” Three days later my teeth started to feel strained/ irritated. Another dentist examined my cavity filling and the quote was - "it was a sloppy job." After only 10 minutes with my new dentist I was as good as new! If my elevated filling was unfixed, it would damage to the surrounding nerves and in about a month I would probably need a root canal!! Dr. Wu was a miss for me by a far shot. He is a nice guy, but what I need is a dentist that would listen to his patients.

I've had multiple fillings and cleanings but most recently another root canal. When I had my first root canal done, it was done by a specialist and only required 2 visits. My second and current one is not done yet, and I will be on my 5th visit. 5 VISITS! NOT ACCEPTABLE!! A specialist came in for the actual procedure but the other 4 visits were done by Dr. Wu. Each and every time, he did not explain anything to me, neither did his assistants. He doesn't care about his patients and only cares about money. I would not recommend him at all, as the anxiety and stress you will have is not worth it. After each visit, I am in pain...which is strange cause in the beginning of each visit he always ask "pain? pain?" This kind of practice should not be acceptable and I strongly suggest new patients look elsewhere.

had my teeth clean and improve my smile by braces, dr wu is quite knowledgeable and their price are reasonable. i dont have insurance, but you can just pay 20 for check up plus 70 for cleaning. The hygenist has very bad manner, she don't look at you and smile at all.

I have to agree with the first reviewer who said Dr. Wu falsely diagnosed to make a profit. I just came back from a different dentist who told me it was hard to tell if I had new cavities because so much extreme work had been done on my teeth. The next time I get work done it will have to be a crown because Dr Wu filled many supposed "cavities" and the next year dug them out making the holes in my teeth deeper and refilling them. Now, I know unless a tooth is bothering you there is no reason to constantly change fillings. I was naive and trusted Dr. Wu. His treatments are inconsistent with what any other dentist has done and recommended. In the future I will have much higher dental costs due to his tampering and pointless drilling and filling he did on my teeth. Please consider a second opinion when you go to the dentist and they tell you that you need a lot of work. You can ask for your xrays and take them to another DDS. When I asked for copies of my medical records--which every patient has a right to--his office refused to give them to me. There are many dental plans that offer a reduced rate for second opinions.

About Hygienist: Also, Dr Wu has a spittoon in the waiting room because many of his patients are from places where public spitting is the norm. Aside from the cultural novelty, I'm not sure it is very hygienic.

I been to Dr. Wu's office on 41 elizabeth st, #303, NY 10013, about 1 year ago. I initially went there for a cleaning and I never had any cavities in my life, but to my surprise Dr. Wu told me i need it 3 fillings and scaling. Trusting him as my new doctor i went with the treatment and he gave me some rinse call "Periodex" to use daily. I went back to him six months later for cleaning again, for some reason my teeth was very discolored and brown. And he said that it was tea stain, but I Brush and Floss all the time, then he told me i have 5 cavities this time. I was very surprise and upset so I went to another dentist to see whats going on. To my surprise again the other dentist told me that it was just staining and not actual cavities and that "Periodex" rinse should not have been use for long term because it STAINS TEETH. Oh MY GOD, all of the problems was created by this Dr. Darryl Wu.

Dr Wu was very thorough. He asked the right questions. He proposed the right strategy for long term treatment. Treatment was painless, and he was inquisitive and concerned about my reactions. It was the best experience I have had at a Dentist's office in many years. I found him to be very professional and very caring.

i've had fillings and a couple of other things done by Dr. Wu. He is very nice and extremely gentle. He's quiet, and speaks softly, so you may have to ask him some questions in order to find out exactly what he's going to do. but like i said, he's very nice and if you ask, he's happy to explain things.

For a simple cavity filling. He did an awful job. He didn't even care about us patient's feeling.
